€70,000 3-y-o, Authorized gelding. Dam, lightly raced on Flat, half-sister to fairly useful hurdler Dildar. Strong in the betting but failed to handle the heavy ground on last month's bumper debut.

Timeform
No great promise in bumpers and far too headstrong on both starts in the sphere so far, including over C&D 5 weeks ago. Readily passed over.
|
Timeform
Modest 10f maiden on the Flat who achieved nothing sent hurdling at Wincanton 11 days ago. No reason to think he can get involved here on the back of that.

£450,000 4-y-o, Getaway gelding. Brother to fair hurdler Avoid de Master, and half-brother to fairly useful chaser Nortonthorpelegend. Won sole start in Irish points (November 2019) and one to note.

Twice-raced maiden under NH rules. Ninth of 15 in novice hurdle at Huntingdon (19.6f, heavy, 66/1) on hurdles bow 29 days ago.

Useful on the Flat in Italy (stays 11f) and shaped with some encouragement when third of 6 in a Sandown juvenile on hurdle debut in December 2018. Tailed off on return and this should reveal more.

Warwick bumper winner in 2019. Well held in 3 Flat runs later that year and showed nothing in maiden/novice hurdle this term. Hood goes on.

Useful around 1m on the Flat and did shape better than first time up over hurdles when eventh of 13 in novice hurdle at Plumpton (15.9f, soft) 37 days ago. Plenty more needed.
|
Timeform
Kayf Tara gelding who showed plenty to work on when fifth in a Plumpton bumper last month and market should guide expectations on hurdles bow.

Fairly useful on Flat, stays 12.5f, won 2 of last 3 starts, including at Newcastle in October. Makes hurdles bow after leaving Heather Main for 21,000 gns. Market should guide.

Fair ex-Irish 11f Flat winner who hinted at promise on hurdling bow when seventh of 8 in Cheltenham juvenile in December. May well do better, so no forlorn hope.

Forecasts

Gallyhill (30/100), Hoi Polloi (7/4), Minella Tara (6/1), Robin's Dream (11/1), Island Nation (14/1), Danehill Kodiac (14/1), Simply True (18/1), Il Re Di Nessuno (20/1), Fleck Ivy (25/1), An Tailliur (80/1), Getthepot (80/1), Racing Country (150/1), Pour Joie (150/1), Calgary Tiger (200/1), Tamango (200/1), Lady Wolf (200/1), Don't Jump George (200/1)

Verdict

Emma Lavelle's impressive bumper winner HOI POLLOI was unable to get the job done when well-fancied on his hurdling bow at Hereford in November, finding just one too good. With improvement on the cards, he can go one better here. Nicky Henderson's hurdling debutants always warrant the utmost respect here but Gallyhill may have to settle for silver on this occasion, ahead of Minella Tara.

  1. HOI POLLOI (IRE)
  2. GALLYHILL (IRE)
  3. MINELLA TARA (IRE)
