Winner of the Grade 1 Kauto Star Novices' Chase last season. Bitterly disappointing all 3 subsequent starts, though, including on return at Cheltenham in October. Has had a wind op.

Very smart novice in 2018/19. Lightly-raced since and, having been tailed off prior to falling on return at Exeter, he was again well beaten in a Cheltenham Grade 2.

Back on track when in first-time cheekpieces when third to First Flow at Ascot. Perhaps worth forgiving a lesser effort at Cheltenham latest as he's now been below par on all 3 chase starts there.

Lightly raced in recent seasons, but won this last year and confirmed himself as good as ever when runner-up on return at Newbury (19.8f) in November. Strong claims.

Narrow winner of Tipperary handicap chase for Henry De Bromhead in July, but his profile is decidedly patchy and faces a stiff task on debut for new connections.

Dual winning hurdler who has already bettered that form over fences, producing a spring-heeled display when bolting up on just his third start in this sphere at Doncaster. Major player.

Forecasts

Evander (1/1), Slate House (5/1), Gala Ball (11/2), Two For Gold (11/2), Capeland (6/1), Glen Forsa (7/1), Tidal Flow (10/1), Erick Le Rouge (12/1), Mind's Eye (50/1)

Verdict

There should be more to come from EVANDER, who jumped with aplomb when opening his chase account at Doncaster and this 9 lb higher mark should be well within reach. There are question marks surrounding many of his rivals, but last year's winner Gala Ball will offer stern resistance if reproducing his reappearance effort and Capeland is certainly capable of a bold show.
