Useful novice hurdler last season who contested a warm race on chase debut at Uttoxeter, finishing fourth. Went with plenty of zest when an all-the-way scorer at Carlisle and there's more to come.

Useful hurdler, winning pair of 2m handicaps from 3 starts last season. Fine on soft/heavy ground. Strong traveller who overcame several mistakes when making winning chase debut at Ayr last month.

Dual novice hurdle winner last term and even better form when making a winning start over fences in 2m Fakenham novice in October. Matched that form when second of 4 on handicap bow latest.

Lowered the colours of Buveur d'Air in the 2019 Fighting Fifth Hurdle at Newcastle. Fit from a Flat win last month and he's clearly a danger to all if taking to fences.

Fairly useful form when winning 2m maiden hurdle in January and immediately surpassed that level when an excellent second at Uttoxeter (ahead of Cheddleton) in October.

Forecasts

Cheddleton (2/1), Elvis Mail (11/4), Cornerstone Lad (10/3), Ubetya (9/2), Gaelik Coast (12/1)

Verdict

UBETYA was the least talented of these over hurdles, but he excelled himself when runner-up in a very deep maiden chase at Uttoxeter in October and there should be more to come from him. Cornerstone Lad is clearly a very classy recruit to fences, while the other 3 runners have all won in this sphere.

  1. UBETYA (IRE)
  2. CORNERSTONE LAD
  3. ELVIS MAIL (FR)
