Fairly useful 21f hurdle winner for Warren Greatrex in 2018 but nowhere near that level in 4 chase starts for new yard. Has first-time tongue strap added to cheekpieces. Plenty to prove.

Without any form for his current yard, well beaten again on C&D reappearance a month ago. Would need to see market support to consider.

Promise when placed in 23.5f handicaps on both starts over fences, latterly behind Epsom Des Mottes at Newcastle. Slightly shorter trip now in his favour if anything. High on the shortlist.

Winning Irish pointer who upped his game to win soft-ground Newcastle handicap hurdle in March. Shaped better than result when remote fifth on 23f Kelso chase debut/return. Open to progress.

Went wrong way from chasing debut when last of 5 in handicap chase at Kelso (23f) 8 weeks ago. Cheekpieces reached for now with bit to prove.

Placed in points and in both handicap hurdle starts last winter. Probably needed the run on 2m Hexham chase debut/reappearance. Open to improvement now stepping up to 2½m under Brian Hughes.

Landed a handicap hurdle here in the mud last winter and ran out an easy all-the-way winner on his Newcastle chase debut 17 days ago. Has struggled consistency but big player if in same form.

Fair winning chaser last term, scoring in Kelso handicap. Does need to shrug off a poor run on hurdle reappearance here, though.

Wide-margin winner at Newcastle in March 2019 but badly out of sorts last season. Well handicapped as a result but too much to prove.

Best effort when runner-up over 2½m at Perth in August but not in anything like the same form in his 3 runs since. Blinkered first time.

First form under Rules when 10 lengths third in 2m Hexham handicap chase but it's only very poor stuff and he's 6 lb out of the handicap here.

Verdict

As the numbers might suggest this looks competitive for the level. DON'T NEED TO KNOW leaves the impression this drop back in trip may suit and is selected to turn around Newcastle form with Epsom Des Mottes. The shorter trip is a bit of a concern for last month's 3m course winner Asking For Answers but he's still respected along with Ballydonagh Boy, who has Brian Hughes up.
