Progressive over hurdles last term (3 wins from 5 starts) but raced freely and ultimately failed to get beyond halfway when falling on chase bow at Exeter (3m) 12 days ago. This should reveal more.

Refused to race on his last two Rules outings in 2018 and, having won between the flags since, reverted to type in that code last time. Hard to make a case for.

Listed bumper winner/useful hurdler and more than enough to glean from his Newbury chase debut second to think he has a future in this sphere. Worth considering.

Bumper winner who was progressive over hurdles, winning twice and signed off with a fine second in the Martin Pipe. Early error seemed to knock confidence on return/chase bow but not one to write off

Landed Aintree bumper in 2018 and successful in points too but big prices and seemingly brought along gradually in chases, not knocked about when distant third at Hexham in October. One for handicaps.

Fairly useful winning hurdler (at 21f) who shaped encouragingly on chase debut at Worcester (20f) last summer. Well beaten on return and unseated early on at Market Rasen subsequently.

Forecasts

House Island (1/1), Pileon (6/4), Seven De Baune (9/1), Annsam (14/1), Don Bersy (28/1), Rob The Getaway (80/1)

Verdict

HOUSE ISLAND was useful over hurdles and showed aptitude for this job when runner-up in a Newbury maiden earlier this month and he's fancied to build on that now. Pileon looked undone by an early error on his respective chasing bow but has a positive profile overall and isn't one to write off. Seven de Baune can do best of the remainder.
