Fairly useful Flat performer in Germany but was off over 2 years and very little to shout about in 2 starts so far this winter. Low-grade handicaps may be more his bag later on.

Remote second of 2 finishers sole outing in points and showed next to nothing under Rules to date.

Cloudings gelding who proved easy to back and was ultimately well held in a Warwick bumper last December. Switched yards for £12,000 subsequently and this should reveal more.

Well held sole bumper start but better for hurdles debut when third in a C&D novice last month, that despite being badly hampered 2 out. May do better again, particularly over further.

€100,000 purchase who showed a bit on bumper debut in January and clear signs of greenness getting in the way of progress on hurdles bow in October (ran out last). Undoubtedly remains with potential.

Some progress in bumpers, albeit modest stuff and he was never a threat on return/hurdles debut at Chepstow (19.5f) 2 weeks ago.

Impressive winner of a Warwick bumper on debut in January so shade underwhelming he failed to land a blow on return/hurdles bow here (15.7f) last month. However, surely better to come from him.

Carlotamix gelding who displayed fair form on 2 of his 3 starts over hurdles for Jessica Harrington. Has joined another excellent outfit and no surprise to see him come forward again.

£32,000 3-y-o. Dam point winner. Represents leading connections ahead of Rules/hurdling debut and he's well worth close market scrutiny for clues.

Showed ability both starts in bumpers for Keith Dalgleish (second twice in points thereafter) and solid start over hurdles, hitting frame both starts to date for this yard. Lead player here.

Unseated rider sole start in points but displayed ability amidst greenness when third in a Bangor bumper in September. Well beaten in a Ludlow novice hurdle since, however.

£50,000 half-brother to 4 winners, including fairly useful hurdler/chaser Humbie (2m-3m winner). Dam from family of top-class chaser Denman. Easy winner sole start in Irish points and interesting.

Fame And Glory filly who showed a bit more than previously without posing a threat when distant fourth in a Ludlow mares' maiden (15.7f) recently. Needs another run for a mark.

Forecasts

Nickelsonthedime (13/8), I'm So Busy (3/1), Here Comes McCoy (4/1), Tallow For Coal (11/2), Everything Now (12/1), Inishbiggle (14/1), Folks On The Hill (28/1), Aronius (50/1), Funway Monarch (100/1), Cronk Y Knox (125/1), On The Platform (200/1), Happy And Content (250/1), Battletank (250/1), Rushmoor Girl (300/1)

Verdict

An interesting opener with several holding claims. NICKELSONTHEDIME has twice shaped well over hurdles for his present stable and looks sure to be in the mix with the potential for better still. I'm So Busy, on debut for Dr Newland, Here Comes McCoy and facile point scorer Tallow For Coal head up the dangers.
