Britbet Novices' Handicap Hurdle (GBB Race)

Off time: 12:33 | Winning time: 4m 4.11s

Mount Windsor⁷^{(ex 7)}

Age: 5| Weight: 12-2| J: Mr Nathan Brennan⁽¹⁰⁾| T: C Gordon| OR: 105| D

5/6

Dual bumper winner. It's taken a bit of time for it to click with him over hurdles but he's an improved performer this term, building on reappearance second when scoring by 6 lengths at Lingfield.

Form: 2643-21

Rikoboy^t1⁴¹

Age: 4| Weight: 12-1| J: Sam Twiston-Davies| T: Dr R D P Newland| OR: 111WS

5/1

Fairly useful in France. Has struggled to see his races out in Britain but has had wind surgery since last seen and this sharp test should suit now handicapping with a tongue tie added. Interesting.

Form: 3634-34

Glutnforpunishment³⁵

Age: 4| Weight: 11-12| J: J M Quinlan| T: N P Littmoden| OR: 108

40/1

Four Flat wins last year and found only one too good on hurdles bow at Worcester in August 2019. However, disappointing on the Flat this year and fared no better back hurdling latest.

Form: 23-0

Silkstone^p⁹⁹

Age: 4| Weight: 11-11| J: Paul O'Brien⁽³⁾| T: Mrs P Sly| OR: 107WS

10/1

Fair 1m winner on Flat. Similar level when second in 2 juvenile hurdles last winter but his 2 runs back hurdling over the summer were disappointing. Break needs to have done him good (had wind op).

Form: 2629-40

Ingenuity^p¹²

Age: 5| Weight: 11-7| J: Mitchell Bastyan⁽³⁾| T: M F Harris| OR: 103

16/1

Runner-up on the Flat for this yard at Bath in September and posted one of his better efforts over hurdles when 12 lengths fourth in 2m Newbury handicap in cheekpieces (retained) 12 days ago.

Form: 600/6-44

Gorham's Cave^h³⁰

Age: 6| Weight: 11-4| J: Joshua Moore| T: G & J Moore| OR: 100

40/1

Modest maiden on Flat. Yet to make an impact over hurdles, although Kempton listed was always going to be way too hard last time and handicaps provide him with much more realistic chance.

Form: 0F/5

Glorious Dane²⁰

Age: 4| Weight: 11-2| J: Bryan Carver⁽⁵⁾| T: Miss J A Camacho| OR: 98

4/1

Not long with this yard and shaped quite well when third over C&D last month despite some untidy jumping. Has useful claimer taking 5 lb off and big player, particularly if hurdling with more fluency.

Form: 553-03

Ishyaboi^b1²⁸

Age: 8| Weight: 10-2| J: Jack Tudor⁽⁵⁾| T: Christian Williams| OR: 84

12/1

Still a maiden but one of better efforts when fourth at Warwick (2m) in September. Partnered by inexperienced jockey when below par at Exeter since. Dropped another 3 lb and blinkers added now.

Form: 90-9048

Forecasts

Mount Windsor (5/6), Glorious Dane (4/1), Rikoboy (5/1), Silkstone (10/1), Ishyaboi (12/1), Ingenuity (16/1), Gorham's Cave (40/1), Glutnforpunishment (40/1)

MOUNT WINDSOR is finally showing form more in line with his fairly useful bumper ability and is selected to make light of a penalty for his Lingfield success. Glorious Dane didn't produce the most polished round of jumping when third over C&D last time but it was still a good run and he's feared with Bryan Carver taking 5 lb off. Dr Richard Newland handicap newcomer Rikoboy is also respected.
