Winner of 2m Hereford novice chase in January 2019. Posted best effort of last season on final run of that campaign, runner-up in a Catterick handicap off 2 lb lower, and he's one to consider.

Good strike rate over fences (10-30) and ended last season on a high, landing heavy-ground handicaps at Lingfield and Plumpton. However, more needed on return here off a career-high mark.

Low-mileage 8-y-o who made it 3-4 over fences by landing a 7-runner handicap chase at Hereford (20.9f, soft) when last seen in March. Up 6 lb, but there may be more to come from him this season.

Mark dropped after 3 underwhelming efforts last term and back on-song this season, runner-up on return here (19.5f) in October before going one better over C&D 16 days ago. 7 lb rise looks fair.

Bumper winner who showed ability over hurdles. However, yet to pull up any trees in this sphere, failing to beat a rival home on return in a 7-runner Uttoxeter handicap chase last month.

Scored for third time over fences on last season's reappearance at Plumpton. Just 1 lb above that winning mark back from an 8-month break (has undergone a wind op), but he's not the most reliable.

Forecasts

Bad Boy Du Pouldu (5/2), Go Long (3/1), Haldon Hill (10/3), Go Steady (4/1), Shintori (7/1), Finnegan's Garden (20/1), Churchtown Glen (80/1)

Verdict

Assuming that they're ready to roll, GO LONG and Go Steady may well come to the fore in this contest. The latter is 3-4 over fences and is not passed over lightly, but Go Long took a step firmly back in the right direction at Catterick when last seen in March and remains on a potentially handy mark. Bad Boy du Pouldu did the job well over C&D last time but his record has a patchy look to it.

  1. GO LONG (IRE)
  2. GO STEADY
  3. BAD BOY DU POULDU (FR)
