Sixteen runs since last win in 2019. First run since leaving Michael Appleby when good second of 14 in handicap (11/2) at Haydock (6f, soft) 19 days ago. Expected to be bang there.

Career best when winning 12-runner handicap (11/4) at Pontefract (5f, heavy) 16 days ago, soon clear. Should make his presence felt, for all this 6 lb higher mark demands more.

Promising sort. 25/1, below form 13¼ lengths seventh of 12 to John Kirkup in handicap at Pontefract (5f, heavy) 16 days ago. Likely he'll be a different proposition here with that run under his belt.

C&D winner. Latest win at Yarmouth in September. Below form fifth of 12 in handicap (7/1) at Chelmsford City (5f) 27 days ago. Looks vulnerable.

12/1, below form fourth of 10 in handicap at Catterick (6f, heavy) 8 days ago. Would be a threat if back to something like his best, but too much to prove at present.

Latest win at Catterick in September. Creditable second of 10 in handicap at Musselburgh (5f, heavy, 11/2) 23 days ago. Shouldn't be far away.

Three-time C&D winner. Thirteen runs since last win in 2019. 11/2, sixth of 8 in handicap at this C&D (soft) 7 days ago, not running on. May again find a few too good.

Forecasts

Lincoln Park (3/1), Zim Baby (7/2), John Kirkup (7/2), Fox Hill (13/2), Show Palace (15/2), The Bell Conductor (11/1), Teruntum Star (18/1), Grandfather Tom (22/1)

Verdict

THE BELL CONDUCTOR finished nearer last than first in the Pontefract handicap won by John Kirkup 16 days ago, but he was returning from an absence of almost a year and better is expected here. Phillip Makin's charge has been eased 2 lb and is worth chancing in this trappy-looking contest. John Kirkup merits respect in his follow-up bid, but bigger threats may be posed by Lincoln Park and Fox Hill.

  1. THE BELL CONDUCTOR (IRE)
  2. LINCOLN PARK
  3. FOX HILL
