Statuario²¹

Age: 5| Weight: 11-10| J: James Bowen| T: P & M Bowen| OR: 120| BF

12/1

Fair hurdler who proved better for reappearance when second on chase bow at Uttoxetter, jumping adequately. Probably ridden too aggressively there next time and worth another chance.

Form: 324-725

Fairway Freddy⁷^{(ex 7)}

Age: 7| Weight: 11-10| J: James Davies| T: N J Gifford| OR: 113| C

9/4

Fair 2m winner over hurdles who confirmed reappearance promise when off the mark over fences at Kempton last week. Should have more to offer so big player under a penalty.

Form: 93/64-31

Gustave Mahler⁴⁸⁷

Age: 10| Weight: 11-9| J: Bryan Carver⁽⁵⁾| T: A Ralph| OR: 119| D

22/1

Three-time hurdles winner and good start over fences, runner-up 4 times. Disappointed all 3 starts last summer, however, so bit to prove after 16 months off.

Form: 242/579-

Flagrant Delitiep²²⁵

Age: 5| Weight: 11-3| J: Stan Sheppard| T: R Walford| OR: 113

11/2

Promise in novice hurdles and took a big step forward when runner-up in handicaps at Exeter and Fontwell. Off 7 months. Makes chase/handicap debut.

Form: 459322-

Colditz Castle²²⁷

Age: 6| Weight: 11-3| J: Tom Cannon| T: A King| OR: 113

7/2

Fair maiden hurdler who was a bit below form when last seen in a handicap at Doncaster in March. Starts out over fences with something to prove.

Form: 2/62397-

Kauto The King^t²⁶¹

Age: 6| Weight: 11-0| J: Adrian Heskin| T: C L Tizzard| OR: 110

5/1

Fairly useful maiden hurdler at his best but has had plenty of chances now and needs the switch to fences to do something for him.

Form: 2/275P5-

Non-Runners

Editeur Du Gite³⁰³

Weight: 11-10| Age: 6

Forecasts

Fairway Freddy (9/4), Colditz Castle (7/2), Kauto The King (5/1), Flagrant Delitiep (11/2), Finalshot (13/2), Statuario (12/1), Editeur Du Gite (14/1), Gustave Mahler (22/1)

FAIRWAY FREDDY was clearly all the better for his encouraging return when making all with a bit in hand at Kempton last week and looks the one to beat under a penalty. Statuario is worth another chance to confirm the promise of his chase debut having been ridden too aggressively 3 weeks ago, while Flagrant Delitiep was progressive over hurdles, including in handicaps.
