Winner of 2 of his last 3 starts, producing a career-best when seeing off 5 rivals at Exeter (24.2f, good) recently. 5 lb rise fair and another bold show on the cards.

Won 3 times from 9 starts over hurdles. Lacked conviction at his fences when a remote second on Ludlow chase debut (2½m, good to firm) but he's worth another chance, particularly over this new trip.

Highly-tried over hurdles after landing a Kelso novice in November 2018. Failed to shine switched to fences last season but since undergone wind surgery and he is feared off this reduced mark.

Signed off for last term by landing 3m handicap hurdle at Doncaster. Recent reappearance effort was encouraging but will need to jump better than he did on sole previous chase start. Blinkers applied.

Dual point winner but latest start in that sphere was low-key, and he was disappointing when last seen under Rules back in 2017 (final run for David Pipe). 6 lb 'wrong' at the weights on chase debut.

Forecasts

El Presente (6/5), Aye Aye Charlie (6/4), Manning Estate (6/1), Ruthless Article (14/1), Stay Out Of Court (50/1)

Verdict

AYE AYE CHARLIE failed to match his useful hurdles form switched to fences last season, but he has since undergone another round of wind surgery and is well worth chancing off this reduced mark under conditions he's likely to appreciate. El Presente is clearly the one to beat judged on chase form and is next best ahead of Ruthless Article.

  1. AYE AYE CHARLIE
  2. EL PRESENTE
  3. RUTHLESS ARTICLE (IRE)
