11/4, promising second of 12 in bumper at Ayr (16f, good to firm) on NH debut but off track for 18 months. Makes hurdles debut and worth monitoring in betting.

9/2
Fair ex-French hurdler. 2/1, raced too freely on yard debut when seventh of 9 in novice at Taunton (16.5f, heavy) 7 months ago. Capable of better if he becomes more tractable.

25/1, tenderly-handled fifth of 9 in novice hurdle at Taunton (16.5f, heavy) on NH debut 7 months ago. Sure to leave that form behind so not to be underestimated.

Forecasts

Striking A Pose (3/1), Chess Player (10/3), Glajou (9/2), A Distant Place (9/2), Press Your Luck (6/1), Colonel Manderson (9/1), God Knows Why (40/1), Hardy Articos (50/1), Grey Flint (50/1)

Verdict

A case can be made for most of these but Colin Tizzard's well-bred newcomer STRIKING A POSE is taken to make the perfect start at the chief expense of Glajou who was too keen when only seventh at Taunton on his debut for Paul Nicholls but can be expected to fare better now. Colonel Manderson and God Knows Why are not dismissed lightly either in an intriguing novice hurdle.

  1. STRIKING A POSE (IRE)
  2. GLAJOU (FR)
  3. COLONEL MANDERSON (FR)
