Runner-up to subsequent Champagne Stakes winner Chindit at Ascot (7f) before resuming winning ways with a gutsy display in 1m listed race at Salisbury. Leading contender on form.

Won on debut at York and was much improved when following up in the Acomb Stakes there last month, showing a good attitude. That form is not working out but there's more to come now stepping up to 1m.

Is really getting the hang of things now, showing a good attitude to follow up his nursery success in 7f listed contest at Doncaster 15 days ago. Will be suited by 1m and may have even more to offer.

Typical improver for this yard, opening account in Galway maiden before an excellent third in the Group 2 Futurity Stakes at the Curragh (7f). Further progress can't be ruled out given his profile.

Well backed too and made a winning start in good style over 1m at Haydock (heavy) 23 days ago. That was a pleasing introduction and he's open to improvement., but much more will be required here.

Forecasts

New Mandate (9/4), Cobh (5/2), Ontario (7/2), Gear Up (11/2), Pleasant Man (8/1)

Verdict

COBH's form has a really solid look to it having found only subsequent Champagne Stakes winner Chindit too good at Ascot prior to resuming winning ways with a gutsy display over this trip at Salisbury, so he's taken to make his first foray into pattern company a winning one. Ontario is a typical Aidan O'Brien improver who may emerge as the biggest threat.
