Confirmed debut promise (strong form) 11 months on when edging out a subsequent winner (first 2 well clear) in Yarmouth maiden in June. Potentially smart so good chance he can defy opening mark of 92.

Confirmed debut promise when winning 7-runner novice at Leicester and creditable second on handicap debut there next time. Further improvement may come when tackling 7f, however.

Progressive gelding who confirmed previous promise to get off the mark in a 6f Haydock handicap, showing plenty of speed. Excuses at York since so could well bounce back.

Won twice during a busy 2-y-o campaign and better for return when fourth in a big field at York 6 weeks ago. Can make presence felt again.

Wide-margin winner at Thirsk in June and not disgraced off much higher marks last 2 starts, third at Ayr last time. Should give another good account.

Forecasts

Man Of Promise (6/4), Zim Baby (4/1), Byline (11/2), Musicality (13/2), Endowed (7/1), Owney Madden (15/2), Many A Star (8/1), Chairmanic (9/1), Manigordo (12/1), Treble Treble (33/1)

Verdict

An opening mark of 92 may well underestimate the potentially-smart MAN OF PROMISE given what he's shown in a couple of maidens 11 months apart. Many A Star has done well physically from 2 to 3 and may have more to offer still, so is feared most ahead of Zim Baby and Endowed.

  1. MAN OF PROMISE (USA)
  2. MANY A STAR (IRE)
  3. ZIM BABY
