Hadn't run over the smaller obstacles for two years but ran poorly when 61L 13th at the Galway Festival (2m7f) last month. Needs a big bounce back at present.

Not appeared in best form in two starts this term and only marginally progressed when beaten 41L at Gowran (3m) last month. Comes into this in need of a comeback.

Brosna Georgep,t195
Age: 9|  Weight: 11-6| J: Simon Torrens(7)| T: A L T Moore| OR:  119

Registered a second-place finish at Naas during the winter and was last seen finishing creditable sixth in 3m handicap chase at Down Royal in January. Absent since and makes comeback over smaller obstacles.

In fine form on first two starts after comeback, finishing runner-up in similar contests before finishing lame when pulling-up at Gowran (3m) last time. Easily forgiven and should be bang in the mix.

Pass The Ball42
Age: 11|  Weight: 11-6| J: N P Madden| T: N Madden| OR:  119
11/1
Veteran who hasn't won that often lately, but took a step back in the right direction when 12L fifth at Kilbeggan (2m4f) over fences last time. Hurdles mark is 2lb higher.
6
Horse silk
Gealachb21
Age: 4|  Weight: 11-4| J: Sean O'Keeffe(5)| T: G Elliott| OR:  124
10/1
Very promising run at the Cheltenham Festival in March and ran well-enough when fourth at Gowran (2m4f) last month. Should be doing better with more experience.
7

Mister Fogpatches155
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-0| J: Rachael Blackmore| T: P A Fahy| OR:  113
10/3
Failed to progress since winning at Navan in December and didn't show much when seventh at Naas (2m3f) in March. Absent since but might need more respite in the weights.

Horse silk
Tiger Twenty Twot28
Age: 9|  Weight: 10-13| J: D F O'Regan| T: G Elliott| OR:  112| BF
8/1
Solid form recently when winning Bellewstown handicap hurdle (3m) two starts ago and not badly placed when fourth at Roscommon (2m4f) last month. Further 3lb hike is of concern however.
9
Horse silk
Brogine11
Age: 10|  Weight: 10-11| J: C A Landers(5)| T: S Braddish| OR:  110| C
5/1
Had looked to be going the wrong way but solid since resumption of racing, including career-best 2L second at Galway (3m) last month. Only up 2lb since so goes on the shortlist.

Horse silk
An Fearchanp372
Age: 9|  Weight: 10-10| J: M A Enright| T: G Scott| OR:  109
40/1
Broke his maiden tag at Cork three starts ago but poor in two subsequent starts, including when pulling up at Galway (3m) last week. Eased 4lb but needs to prove himself in this company.

Famous Escape19
Age: 5|  Weight: 10-10| J: J J Slevin| T: P F McEnery| OR:  109| C
14/1
Achieved little in his first couple of starts but found significant improvement when easy 15L winner of 2m6f maiden hurdle at this track last time. Opening mark is competitive enough. Respected.
12
Horse silk
Heistt247
Age: 10|  Weight: 10-10| J: J M Moore| T: P Griffin| OR:  109| D
80/1
Some modest form at English tracks during the winter but last seen when well out of his depth over the Grand National fences at Aintree (2m5f) in December. Limited appeal in this.
14
Horse silk
Pump Roadt12
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-9| J: Phillip Enright| T: M M McNiff| OR:  108| C
9/2
Winner of four of his races and fared better than result suggested when sixth in competitive Galway handicap hurdle (2m5f) last month. Eased 1lb so not one to entirely dismiss.

Mister Fogpatches (10/3), Pump Road (9/2), Brogine (5/1), Kilkishen (6/1), Silver Planeur (6/1), Summer Hill (15/2), Tiger Twenty Two (8/1), Gealach (10/1), Pass The Ball (11/1), Famous Escape (14/1), Mister Eddman (20/1), Ashqar (20/1), Ah Littleluck (22/1), Lilshane (25/1), An Fearchan (40/1), Brosna George (50/1), Heist (80/1)

Verdict

A very tough handicap contest, the preference is for KILKISHEN to get back to winning ways. His last run can be easily excused and shaped incredibly well before that in two starts. His current mark is certainly not out of his reach. Brogine possesses a simialr profile and isn't too harshly treated for a very good effort at Galway last time, while the Gordon Elliott duo of Tiger Twenty Two and Gealach have been in solid form this summer, and that latter notably went close in the Fred Winter at the Cheltenham Festival in March, which is classy form.
  1. Kilkishen
  2. Brogine
  3. Gealach
