Made use of a much-reduced mark in a hood to spring back to life at Bangor (a track his yard do well at) over 19.5f last time. Raised 7lb for that run he still looks well treated on his old form reverting to a test of speed over 2m should suit.
Like many who join this yard showed plenty of improvement resulting in a good win at Stratford (16.3f) last September off a 5lb lower mark (third start for the stable). Ran with credit over the same C&D last time off an 11-month break, stiff mark.
Useful handicap hurdler (won twice here, once over C&D), reverts to hurdles now having finished well held in a competitive 2m4f handicap chase last time. Hope given by having a lower hurdles mark to work with, visor on first-time, progress needed.
Fit from the Flat he looked far more resolute than when beaten on the level over C&D last time narrowly beating the re-opposing Percy (form already franked). Won't be much between the two (the second is 2lb better off), sound claims once again.
Found something like his old form when narrowly beaten by Esprit De Baileys over C&D last time (stable debut). 2lb better off for ¾L he would have very strong claims if repeating that effort (no guarantee), should be sharper though for that outing.
Novice/handicap hurdle winner in late-summer last year who has to a certain extent matched that form since then despite failing to score again. Two creditable efforts since returning, will appreciate a return to this trip after not staying last time.
Improved of late on the Flat and that may assist him adding to his one hurdles victory so far which came in a juvenile contest at Stratford last summer. May have more to offer in this sphere although this is just about the toughest test he's faced.
Formerly a very smart handicapper who has now plummeted down the handicap (last win came over three years ago off 150). Showed that he still retains plenty of ability over C&D last time but starting to look hard to win with these days.
Forecasts
John Constable (10/3), Gateway To Europe (7/2), Teqany (7/2), Esprit De Baileys (5/1), Percy (17/2), Dear Sire (9/1), What Will Be (18/1), Lovato (20/1)
Eventually all the pieces of the jigsaw are going to fall into place again for John Constable who flirted with breaking his long losing spell over C&D last time when conceding first run to one who had finished third to two of the other runners in this race the time before. That duo are Esprit De Baileys and Percy who finished 1-2 here last time and there shouldn’t be much between them again, both are expected to run well. DEAR SIRE defeated a fair field at Bangor last time and still looks well treated on his old form despite topweight a move back to a speed favouring 2m in his favour.
- Dear Sire
- John Constable
- Esprit De Baileys
