Career best effort over hurdles, second of 15 beaten 7L over 2m at Gowran Park last month. More needed in this company.
Course winner that has also won over a similar trip. Running with great credit in a number of starts over hurdles since racing resumed in June. Could well still have more to give.
Mixed bag in a number of point-to-point starts before tailing off in a Gowran Park bumper last month and on hurdling debut at Cork earlier this month. Faces a tough task.
Gelding by Shantou out of a Beneficial mare. Closely related to useful hurdler/chaser, It's Crucial. Worth a check in the market on debut, yard going well since the end of last month.
Placed four times on the trot in this sphere early last summer before disappointing on return to action following a 12 month lay-off at Gowran Park last month. Appears to have a mountain to climb to get involved.
Salutino gelding out of a Blueprint mare. Four-race maiden, well held when weakening on comeback run following 12 months off at the Galway festival in a 2m2f bumper last month.
Well beaten when pulled up on his hurdles debut at Wexford in October before a similar story at Thurles over 2m when last seen in November. Hard to entertain his chances.
Has shown little in the way of ability in bumper and hurdle starts to date. Hard to fancy on latest evidence at Tramore last month when falling three out when detached.
Nine-race maiden, posted a career best effort to finish close up behind Bective Cave at Kilbeggan before a decent showing at the Galway festival last month. Leading player.
Gelding by Battle Of Marengo out of a Machiavellian mare. Closely related to a number of winners including River Liane, smart type over hurdles/fences.
Daughter of Shirocco. Dam 2m hurdle winner, out of winning half-sister to Group 3 winner Magna Graecia and Group 3 winner Graikos. Tailed of on debut in a Tramore maiden hurdle last month.
Tailed off on both starts since racing returned in June in a Roscommon bumper before a dismal effort at Kilbeggan earlier this month. Can be ruled out pretty quickly.
Had first run in a bumper when last seen after falling on hurdles debut in March. Plenty to find after finishing tailed off and can be ruled out pretty quickly. Well held on both career bumper starts so far since debut last month.
Daughter of Arcadio out of an Oscar mare. Dam won over hurdles at 2m/2m4f. Watching brief on racecourse introduction.
Forecasts
Coolbane Boy (6/4), Santana Plessis (13/8), Thousand Tears (3/1), Dunbar (16/1), Copperwell (18/1), Gearoid (33/1), Champions Hill (40/1), La Baie (40/1), Stormy Master (50/1), Battleofsupremacy (100/1), Our Dixi (100/1), Kilbeggan Glory (100/1), Mr Binman (125/1), Brosna Rocco (200/1)
The John Burke-trained THOUSAND TEARS won't find many better chances to lose his maiden tag at the 10th time of asking for connections. The five-year-old can build on a solid effort at the Galway festival last month finishing fifth of 16 in a competitive 2m handicap and can get the better of Coolbane Boy, second of 15 behind Jon Ess at Gowran Park last month, as he steps up in trip. The Eoin Doyle-trained Dunbar, is better than his last effort at Gowran Park suggests while Santana Plessis should not be taken lightly stepping back up in trip.
- Thousand Tears
- Coolbane Boy
- Santana Plessis
