Useful handicapper at his best, was still in there pitching when coming down in the latter stages of the Brown Advisory at Cheltenham and ran respectably on reappearance at Market Rasen last month. Ground to make up on a few, though.
Won a novice chase here (over slightly further) last July and performed with great credit to be second in Market Rasen's valuable Summer Plate on reappearance. Still unepxosed over fences, small field today will suit, and he has a solid chance.
Turning into a very good mare over fences, and put in a career best to win the Summer Plate at Market Rasen on latest start. 11lb rise means she has work to do to confirm the form with Fidux, but only a fool would discount her in such good heart.
Was in good form last autumn, winning a hurdle and claiming chase but handicapper took action after and this mark still looks a little on the high side, especially against some potential improvers. Others make a bit more appeal.
Ability to win a race of this nature not in doubt, but he's often far too keen for his own good and ends up having little left in the tank at the business end. Once he learns to settle better, he'll be winning races, and cannot be ruled out here.
Found the trip too sharp at Market Rasen two starts ago but won with any amount in hand here last time out once upped in trip. Hit with a 10lb rise for that but still unexposed over fences and is surely capable of better again. Conditions ideal.
Probably capable of winning a race off this sort of mark, and nothing at all wrong with his fourth to Really Super in the Summer Plate last time, but others here looks more progressive and the yard can't buy a winner at present.
Forecasts
Fidux (10/3), Bbold (7/2), Darling Maltaix (7/2), Imperial Presence (5/1), Really Super (6/1), More Buck's (17/2), King Alfonso (33/1)
A fascinating contest. Darling Maltaix is going to improve a chunk once he learns to fully settle and can't be discounted, but there's some good summer jumps form on offer here in the shape of Really Super and FIDUX, who finished 1-2 in the Summer Plate at Market Rasen and the fast-improving Bbold, who gets a good bit of weight off them, and should have more to offer. This small field might suit Fidux and the weight pull he gets with Really Super might be enough for him to turn the tables tonight.
- Fidux
- Really Super
- Bbold
