Rejuvenated by this yard over fences of late (fit from the Flat) winning at Bangor (17.2f) when returned to fences cashing in on a falling mark. Every chance under a penalty attempting to follow up, up 1lb, this is probably his level for now.
Failed to build on the promise shown on first run back from a wind op at Musselburgh on New Year's Day when trying a near 3m trip. Beaten by more than a lack of stamina he now returns to much shorter off an absence, well below winning hurdles mark.
Built on his previous eye-catching efforts over fences to score over C&D in October (well supported), ultimately winning with something in hand. Overall has failed to match that form since (below form when last seen), slips below last winning mark.
Enigmatic chaser (often offers more than he delivers), unsurprisingly not won for nearly three years. Tumbling in the weights now (not the force of old), shaped as if retaining some ability on return, mark as low as its ever been, hard to ignore.
Modest over hurdles, won an Irish point-to-point on debut and looked more at home in this discipline judged on his recent chasing debut. May well have needed the run (raced keenly), remains with potential off this mark after his first chasing effort.
Dual chase winner in May 2019, endured a barren spell since then although now has an extremely low mark to work with if finding his form. Would have needed his reappearance run at Perth last time, does have a tendency to make mistakes.
Two admirable front running efforts of late where late mistakes have cost him on both occasions (unseated rider 3 out last time), went with zest both times. Should remain competitive off this sort of mark, 0-6 over fences, claims if staying upright.
Sliding rapidly down the handicap, without a win for this yard, did take a step towards halting the fall from grace last time at Market Rasen (17.2f) off this mark. Needs to show that he can back that performance up now before support can be offered.
Fairly ordinary form over fences with his Bangor (17.4f) win last August providing the highlight off this same mark. Modest since then over hurdles/fences, given a stiff task last time from 6lb out of the weights, others offer a more solid option.
Regularly looks quirky with his finishing effort, proved equally idiosyncratic at the start last time refusing to race at Market Rasen. Well below his last winning mark, flattered only to deceive on too many occasions to be trusted.
Poor form over hurdles/fences, offered some home for the future when third over fences at Uttoxeter in October having fallen quickly in the handicap. Failed to build on that promise when last seen (pulled up), comes with risks attached.
Dual C&D winner (both chase wins here) but embarked on a long losing sequence since then plummeting down the handicap. Shaped like a non-stayer over further last time, hard to trust with a less than robust profile.
Ran better than the 31Lshe was beaten on chasing debut (wore first-time visor, well out of weights) doing too much too soon over 17.2f at Market Rasen (Tim Rocco, second). 14lb wrong at the weights again, still questions to answer as a 4yo.
Forecasts
Joly Maker (7/2), Tim Rocco (7/2), Court Jurado (9/2), Secret Melody (17/2), Dragon Khan (11/1), Diamond Rock (14/1), Felix Mendelssohn (16/1), Stormbay Bomber (16/1), Thomas Blossom (18/1), Chain Of Beacons (25/1), Agentleman (28/1), Fanfaronade (28/1), Captains Run (50/1)
A race where there are risks attached to nearly all the runners with plenty of quirks and idiosyncrasies to the fore. Topweight Tim Rocco sets a fair standard having looked to have turned over a new leaf of late while the well handicapped trio of Joly Maker, Chain Of Beacons and Felix Mendelssohn are hard to ignore off their current marks, all have form that can win this. Secret Melody has blighted his chance with late mistakes the last twice after fair front-running attempts and he’s bound to be at the fore again. COURT JURADO has less question marks against him than most having shaped well on his chasing debut for an in form stable, progress looks likely for this Irish pointing winner.
- Court Jurado
- Tim Rocco
- Secret Melody
