Consistent sort for the Newland yard prior to opening his account for this stable over fences at Market Rasen, failed to follow up under a penalty there on Monday. 9lb well-in effectively back over hurdles, bold bid if handling a busy period.

A first-time hood provided the catalyst for her to get off the mark at Newton Abbot recently after a six-month break over 2m6f. Made up ground from off the pace, won readily, up 5lb here, a further step up in trip could see further progress.

Yet to win over hurdles he was fir from a Flat spin when returned to hurdles last time over 2m here failing to justify strong support off 1lb higher. Not totally out of this but does face some well handicapped types going into unknown territory.

Stepped up on a recent chasing return to action when scoring in the same sphere last time at Perth but over a substantially greater distance (3m). First time over that trip, stormed clear, well handicapped (6lb well-in) but this looks a stronger heat

Wincanton winner last October over 2m5f building on some earlier promise he's been struggling since (along with stable) until showing a glimmer of hope last time over 2m here. Trip won't be an issue, still could prove vulnerable.

Winner in Irish point-to-points he's shown very little under Rules, well held in a bumper and looks poor over hurdles. Gets a first time cheekpieces/tongue-tie headgear combination in an attempt to spark some progress.

Long time between drinks for this one with a losing sequence that stretches back four years now. Placed on a couple of occasions since but hard to see him getting involved given his overall level of firm, best watched back from an absence.

Forecasts

Black Anthem (11/8), Tara Niece (9/4), Millie Of Mayo (7/2), Istimraar (6/1), Realta Dawn (8/1), Bendy Bow (10/1), Jetstream (14/1), Wherewouldugetit (25/1), Crakehall Lad (50/1)

Verdict

A stronger heat than the first division with a couple that are well-in switching back to hurdles having been successful of late over fences looking worthy of consideration although Black Anthem will have to overcome a quick return and defeat over fences on Monday. The other one of that ilk Istimraar isn’t sure to repeat the form he showed over fences last time when trying this trip for the first time. TARA NIECE won in good style at Newton Abbot, a first-time hood proving beneficial and she looks unexposed in handicaps with a 5lb higher mark unlikely to halt her progress. Bendy Bow and Jetstream two others who could get involved the former making his handicap debut.
  1. Tara Niece
  2. Black Anthem
  3. Bendy Bow
