Rejuvenated by this yard in point-to-points (3-3), then maintained his winning sequence decent hunter chase at Stratford (2m6f, good). Followed up with another good effort (same C&D), ran no sort of race over hurdles when last seen, questions remain.
Successful four times on AW at up to 2m since last being seen over hurdles looking amiss on that occasion. Returns to this sphere off a potentially lenient mark having had a refreshing break, well worth a check in the market given circumstances.
Course winner over 2m around this time last year confirming a return to form off this same mark. Back on the Flat last month post wind op (first time since 2017), usual headgear returns after last hurdling effort (given plenty to do), respected.
Capitalised on a falling mark (first-time visor) when scoring over 2m at Stratford last July (returned hold-up tactics). Lightly-raced since, back to form last time (upped to 2m4f) in cheekpieces (now removed), not sure to be in same form.
Dual novice hurdle winner in 2018, winless since and yet to really fire for this yard (looks an expensive sort to follow). Well backed again last time at Market Rasen, travelled well, finished tamely, not one for maximum faith.
In good form earlier in the year, back-to-back handicap hurdle wins to his name, capped by a smooth win last time over 2m5f (had plenty in hand). Up 11lb for hat-trick bid off a break, hard to deny that he has a leading chance despite the absence.
Bounced around between various yards (this will be his sixth) won bumper (John Butler) and novice hurdle (Dan Skelton). Looked to need the outing last time (sole outing for Martin Smith), now with another new yard, cheekpieces on first-time.
Course winner (2m), seven-time winner for this yard prior to having a 20 month break in all disciplines. Tuned up on the AW for his return to hurdles (highly tried), finishing well held, may do better now eased in grade/mark, not written off.
Fit from the Flat he stepped up on his previous best hurdles form (debut win at Huntingdon) despite only finishing fourth last time at Uttoxeter. Kept on well at the death last time this trip appearing to suit him, worth another chance/market check.
Winning hurdler and capable of some fair form over fences although he's in danger of becoming disappointing in that sphere (still to gain a chase win, 0-12). Returns to hurdles on a long losing run having never won a handicap, others more persuasive.
Went one better than her three previous tries over hurdles after six months off with a marrow win at Market Rasen (2m5f, good/soft), suited by the relative test of speed (Higgs, third). All out to hold on, will need to progress again to follow up.
Ran well enough returning to hurdles at Newton Abbot (2m1f, good) last time having had the benefit of a recent Flat outing. Looks on a stiff enough mark though given his overall form, not an obvious winner in this company.
Forecasts
Higgs (11/4), Gavrocheka (7/2), Hereia (5/1), Imperial Elysian (9/1), Carntop (10/1), All Yours (12/1), Building Bridges (12/1), Dentley De Mee (14/1), Chieftain's Choice (18/1), Avarchie (25/1), Stynes (40/1), Meldrum Lad (40/1)
Despite the absence since his back-to-back handicap hurdles wins IMPERIAL ELYSIAN is taken to record his hat-trick having looked a progressive sort in his two previous victories scoring with something in hand last time, up 11lb but capable of handling that rise. Carntop has a slightly easier task this time and having acquitted himself well last time (better than finishing position) he’s taken to provide one of the dangers along with Building Bridges a promising fourth at Uttoxeter. All Yours needs watching in the market given his recent Flat resurgence, his mark now looks an attractive one in the light of that form.
- Imperial Elysian
- Carntop
- Building Bridges
