Found some form again off the back of a six-month break brushing aside the only real rival he had for much of the race over C&D last time. 1lb well-in under his 7lb penalty if he's able to back this up although he's fallen on a weak contest again.
Back for a second try over fences (pulled up one previous try), showed improved form returning from a fair break. Produced late on to beat a subsequent hurdles winner, the question now is can he follow up off 3lb in a different scenario.
Fairly useful sort over both sets of obstacles, made a winning start over fences at Cartmel (2m5f), August 2018. Lightly-raced over fences since, fell last time he was seen, could be best fresh, yard in decent form, won over hurdles off this mark.
Fairly useful over hurdles (rated 135 at his peak), made a good fist of his early chasing career (won on debut at Cartmel, 2m5f). Stiff task last time he was seen in this sphere (pulled up in hot Aintree handicap), still has some potential.
Stable do well with their chasers; Warwick winner off a wind op March 2019 (2m4f) on chasing debut. Shaped as well as ever after 14 months off behind Irish Prophecy last time, finished full of running, may need a stiffer test than this.
Three-time winner over fences (3-13), can be more miss than hit in the jumping department which adds to a rather uneven profile. Well beaten when last seen, returns from a significant break, jumping frailties tend to temper enthusiasm.
Fairly useful hurdler who has yet to show that sort of prowess over fences (0-4) failing to put together a competent performance as yet. Well behind Irish Prophecy last time, ran very poorly, big task to turn that form around.
Forecasts
Shoal Bay (11/8), Irish Prophecy (9/4), One Forty Seven (10/1), Dieg Man (11/1), Majestic Touch (14/1), Canton Prince (16/1), Lucca Lady (16/1)
Quite a tricky little contest, Shoal Bay was a fair winner over C&D last time but that was in a contest where everything went his way and that scenario isn’t sure to pan out again although he’s still nicely weighted even under a penalty. Irish Prophecy had a couple of these behind him when showing his best over fences last time but all his wins have come when fresh so returning after a 23 day break is a worry to his prospects. It may be worth taking a chance with DIEG MAN with his stable in form and fresh might be the time to catch him he’s capable off this mark. Lucca Lady was behind Irish Prophecy last time but shaped well, this trip still looks on the short side but she’s well respected.
