Benefited from a strong pace when scoring at Pontefract last September but the handicapper has been in charge since and this looks a tough ask under top weight. (Cut some slack lately but still 3lb above that previous winning mark.)

Justified strong support when winning at Beverley (1m4f, good) last month; still well handicapped and has a definite chance of following up from just a 3lb higher mark .

Beat just one horse home on his seasonal debut at Ayr in mid-July and needs to have come on a bundle for the run. Hasn't won on turf (on the Flat) for two years but will be potentially well handicapped for later in the season as a result.

A previous C&D winner that is closely matched with Zabeel Star judging by a literal reading of the form of last time they met. However, his form has taken a dip since then and a big step up from his seasonal return is required.

Been frustrating since he won over 1m2f at Ayr last August and a few gambles have gone astray with him. Two starts back on turf have left a bit to be desired but he's not far off a winning mark so would still be dangerous to rule out.

Notched a brace of wins when last seen and feasibly treated from just a 2lb higher mark. Concerning that he's been out of action since last June and his record first-time out after a break isn't great. (Has won over C&D when fit before, though.)

Improved since being stepped back up in trip and is 3lb well in under his penalty for an easy win in a Class 6 handicap at Catterick last week; this doesn't look much tougher and he merits serious consideration. (He's only 1-14 in all races though.)

Forecasts

Madeeh (4/5), Sioux Frontier (11/2), Air Force Amy (6/1), Zabeel Star (7/1), Maulesden May (7/1), Three Castles (12/1), An Fear Ciuin (40/1), Hillgrove Angel (40/1)

Verdict

MADEEH is the obvious one given the manner in which he ran away with a 1m4f handicap at Catterick last week. He's ahead of the assessor and has been found a decent opportunity in which to follow up. Zabeel Star is suggested as the best alternative as he also arrives in good heart and is also well treated in comparison to the pick of his past form. Sioux Frontier has the ability to be thereabouts and could even be the surprise package if he gets the break in running, while Maulesden May looks the pick of Keith Dalgleish's duo and is also respected.
  1. Madeeh
  2. Zabeel Star
  3. Sioux Frontier
