On an ever extending losing sequence (not win since May 2016) despite some creditable efforts in defeat along the way in better grade than this. Took a step back in right direction last time, now off lowest mark for five years, can fail to convince.

Bounced back to form from a mark that had slid below that of his last win getting an ideal run off a strong-pace at Beverley (7.4f, good), nabbed late on. Needs to find himself in a similar scenario to repeat off a 2lb higher mark, sound claims.

Has been well-handicapped for some while now without taking advantage although he did look more likely returned to this trip last time (had been kept to 6f). Generously eased 3lb for his last run, already a C&D winner, ought to play a part.

Consistent sort, in frame all three starts this year (often pushes the pace along), ran with credit to take third at Haydock last time (winner has since run well). Left on the same mark (looks fair), may struggle to dominate a field of this size.

Consolidated his excellent start to the season with a Beverley (7.4f, good) win last time, perfectly suited by a strongly-run race (beat Byron's Choice). 1lb worse off for winning a head, much depends on getting race run to suit again, respected.

C&D winner who would have needed the run when reappearing at Haydock (6f, good) last month. Won at Redcar last year (7f, good), now slips 2lb below that last winning mark with the yard in good form, should come on for his reappearance.

Lightly-raced 3yo who showed any amount of improvement on his Ayr (7.2f, good/firm) handicap debut, producing a better performance than seemed likely. Unlucky in-running (had to pick a way through), up 5lb, still of great interest in this situation.

Looked back to his 2yo winning debut best last time when attempting to make all at Sandown (7f, good) on second handicap start. Left on same mark, similar tactics look sure to be employed here (won't have things all his own way), still of interest.

7f AW/Kempton winner for this yard on second start for them when ideally suited by the strong gallop that was set (came from off pace). Not quite firing since returning from the enforced break, looks a little too high in the weights now.

Seen to maximum effect last time (ridden close to pace) off an easing mark to land her first handicap over 7.2f at Wolverhampton (ideally positioned). Not seen since but has won off a break of this length before, still looks reasonably handicapped.

C&D winner, won back-to-back 7f handicaps at Epsom last year (goes well there), good record fresh, 3-7 off 150 plus day breaks. Fresh for return, eased 2lb from his last run (only Epsom failure), veteran now but worth a market check with his record.

Verdict

An intriguing contest where several can be given a chance not least Admirality who looked well suited by the return to 7f at York last time and lurks on a decent mark. Queen’s Sargent and Byron’s Choice are closely matched on their Beverley running and there won’t be much between that pair again especially if they get the strongly-run race they need which they should do via Lincoln Park and Shared Belief both of whom like to set a sound pace. Richard Fahey runs three in this with the pick of the triumvirate the 3yo BOND’s BOY who sprang to life on his handicap debut last time and looked unlucky not to make it a winning one, he can make amends here.
  1. Bond's Boy
  2. Admirality
  3. Queen's Sargent
