Expensive 2yo purchase €100,000 (spring 2019), didn't make her debut until November at Newmarket (7f, heavy), won in good style, looked a useful prospect. Back from an extended absence but sets a clear standard on her one success.
Progressed steadily through three quick runs in minor events at up to 7.2f during June, not disgraced when making handicap debut at York (7f, good). Drop back down to 6f returning to novice company, experience will stand him in good stead.
Lightly-raced sort, gelded before his return at Beverley (5f, good), failing to beat a rival after a year off the course. Raced only at 5f, now gets his opportunity at 6f, has plenty to prove though, one of a quartet from this yard.
Twice-raced maiden who ran to a similar level on his second start as he did on his 7f debut, over 1m last time. Did too much too soon last time here (took a strong hold), may do better in handicaps further down the line.
Newcomer from the same yard as With Thanks, £150,000 yearling third foal, sister to 6f-7f winner Mecca's Spirit and closely related to 2yo 5f winner Queen Celeste. Dam 6f winner, market to provide a good guide as to expectations.
Had wind surgery prior to her debut, now with a tongue-tie on first-time having shown very little on AW 6.1f debut. Hard to see the switch to turf providing the impetus needed to get involved at this juncture.
Easy to back on C&D handicap debut with some cut in the ground (first try at this trip), showed some fair form as a 2yo over 5f in three starts. Showed some promise last time, may well get closer to her 2yo form, tenderly handled last time.
Not much to show for two efforts this year in minor events on turf/AW over 6f, very little progress from debut to second start. Looks as though she will need this experience, others mount far more persuasive cases.
The only debutant of the four that this yard run, 70,000gns yearling, fourth foal; dam 5f-7f winner (2yo 5f winner). Interesting sort, could be worth keeping an eye on in the market in relation to the rest of her stablemates.
Forecasts
With Thanks (1/1), Benefit Street (5/2), Avebury (7/2), Hostelry (15/2), Worden Park (28/1), Birdie Bowers (66/1), Twisted Dreams (80/1), White Copper (80/1), D'arcy Spice (200/1)
The William Haggas yard look to have strong claims in this novice event with penalised filly WITH THANKS setting the standard having looked a useful prospect when winning on her debut at Newmarket late last year. Her stablemate the newcomer Avebury has to be respected given her purchase price and speedy/useful pedigree. Michael Dods sends a quartet into this with Hostelry looking to have a chance on her 2yo form having given a signal that she was returning to her juvenile form last time. Worden Park is an interesting newcomer from the same stable while Benefit Street would be better off in handicap company.
- With Thanks
- Avebury
- Hostelry
