Jumped off in front from the start at Stratford last week and that was the last they saw of him, romping home for a 22l victory. Turned out quickly under the penalty, slight suspicion track favoured him last week but all the same, a big player.
Capable of useful Flat form on his day and a couple of his efforts in novice hurdles would give you hope from what looks a lenient opening mark here. Should be fit after a spin in the Northumberland Plate and is worthy of a second look at least.
Have to go back to 2017 to find last time he won one, and has only raced four times since then, so not been easy to train either. Likes to lead, and may have that privilege denied him by For Pleasure here too.
Won a Jumpers Bumper at Wolverhampton in February and has been in good form on the Flat recently. This mark looks more than workable, may not want a lot more rain but with fitness assured, has a solid chance here.
Mark has been in steady decline for the last 18 months, and she was not showing any signs of stopping the rot when last seen out in December. Trip and likely ground fine, and maybe a break has freshened her up. Tongue strap now applied.
Of obvious interest given this will be his first start for a new yard, and does look well handicapped on old form, but three runs on the Flat at the beginning of the year were modest. May attract support, but isn't a good thing by any means.
Looked useful when winning at Warwick in the May of 2019 but hasn't repeated that run in three other starts, including on reappearance at Uttoxeter two weeks ago. May strip fitter for that though, so not written off yet.
Some 17lb lower this time than last year but that's down to quite a few moderate efforts in the meantime, although his run in a Jumpers Bumper in February showed he has something to offer. Hard to fancy, despite this being the yard's best track.
First start for new yard, who have turned these seemingly disappointing sorts around before, but he was pulled up at Southwell when last seen, and that was over a year ago, so little to recommend his chance. Best watched unless attracting support.
Forecasts
For Pleasure (8/11), Roar (7/2), Chantecler (5/1), Ofcourseiwill (10/1), Phoebus Lescribaa (25/1), Lady Cylla (25/1), Financial Conduct (28/1), Sir Tivo (50/1), Heart Of Kernow (66/1)
Chantecler might attract some support on his first start for Nicky Henderson but he is nine, so it's not as if there's going to be a lot of improvement coming from him. Maybe a change of scenery will do him good, but others make more appeal. For Pleasure waved goodbye to his opponents from the word go at Stratford last week and won as he liked, but this will be a quick enough turnaround for a tearaway sort, and there's no saying he'll get as easy a time on the front this week. ROAR looks on a very lenient mark based on his Flat form and a solidly run race will help his cause. He can come out on top. Financial Conduct is another worth a second look.
