Ended last season in career-best form, but is yet to recapture that level of ability in a trio of starts so far this year. Showed slightly more at York (7f; good) two weeks ago but doesn't look very well-treated.
Makes debut for new yard on first start after having a wind operation. Very disappointing in recent times for former stable, but has shown he does have ability so while he does have a fair bit to prove a market check is worthwhile.
Only made it to the track once last year when last of 16, and in similarly poor form in two starts since returning to action this month including over this trip at Hamilton recently. This is easier but needs to show vastly more.
This is a bit easier than the race he finished sixth in at Doncaster (7f; good) when showing some improvement from what was a stiff reappearance task in the Brittania Stakes at Royal Ascot (1m; soft). Dropped 2lb and highly likely to have a say.
In quiet form of late and last tasted success over C&D on heavy ground in September 2018. 12lb below that mark now but not looking like he is ready to take advantage of that at present so can be ruled out.
Produced a highly respectable run on handicap debut in a typically competitive affair at York (7f; good to soft) when only beaten a neck. Raised 5lb, but leading claims off the back of that and open to much more progress.
Made a winning reappearance to dead-heat at Kempton (7f; standard to slow) when improving for the step-up in trip. Only 3lb higher but remains far from exposed at this trip, so likely there is a fair bit more to come.
Posted best effort yet in handicap company when third at Catterick (6f; good) last time out. Sole career win came over this trip so return to 7f promises to suit better, and he is respected off an unchanged mark.
Regained winning thread over C&D two weeks ago when prevailing by a neck at 25-1. This is tougher as she is upped in class slightly off a 3lb higher mark against less exposed sorts. Did win in this grade off this mark last September though.
Forecasts
Harrison Point (3/1), Entrancing (10/3), Hajjam (4/1), Melody King (6/1), Dutch Decoy (6/1), Triple Distilled (14/1), Oriental Lilly (20/1), Luxor (40/1), Al Qahwa (40/1)
A tight-looking affair with Dutch Decoy one of the main players after he improved for the combination of a step up in trip and change of yards to win on seasonal debut on the AW just over two weeks ago. Harrison Point should appreciate the ease in grade after contesting a pair of competitive handicaps, and Melody King also has place claims after returning to form to finish third last time. The step back up to 7f should see him in a better light but we'll go with ENTRANCING who almost made the perfect start to life in this sphere when a narrow second at York. She remains very unexposed and can go one better off a 5lb higher mark.
- Entrancing
- Harrison Point
- Dutch Decoy
