Well held in three maiden/minor events for George Scott on turf/AW at to 8.7f, only beat two rivals home in those outings. Cheekpieces on for hurdles debut, looks short on ability, joined a good yard, worth a market check this time.
Fair maiden at best on the Flat (0-6) with David Evans for first three starts before joining current yard. Best effort at 5f (tried at up to 7.1f), not an obvious contender given his likely stamina limitations, with a first-class yard.

One of three with a hurdles debut tucked away although he could have hardly shown less in a similar event at Stratford (2m, good). Started 100-1, finished last of those to complete, beaten 118L, more than first-time cheekpieces needed to progress.
Useful Irish maiden on the Flat, finished fourth in a Dundalk AW Listed contest (1m) earlier in the year, rated 83. Now with a new yard and trying a new discipline, classy enough to make his presence felt based on his Flat form.

Fair maiden on the Flat although he didn't appear to get home over 16.2f at Beverley on last start. Encouragement in the fact that his dam was a half-sister to a fairly useful hurdler Sayar, yard have had winners in this sphere, worth considering.

From a yard who do well in this discipline (runners usually well found in the market). Most of his form on the Flat for this yard has been poor (well held in a handicap last time), could turn things around over hurdles.

60-rated on the Flat he failed to win in that sphere although he has produced some creditable displays in handicaps this year (best over 1m2f). Now goes hurdling for the first time, yard know what it takes to produce a winner with this type.
Showed an aptitude for hurdling on his debut, not disgraced when beaten 6L by Hiconic (previous/subsequent hurdles winner) at Bangor (2m). Jumped adequately, sets the standard, no surprise to see that experience put to good use.

Well behind Soldier On Parade when making hurdles debut at Bangor on the back of wind op following her sold Flat run for Richard Hannon. Pulled hard last time, will need to learn to settle if she is to progress in this sphere, others more persuasive.

Forecasts

Soldier On Parade (4/5), Prince Percy (7/2), Dutch Admiral (9/2), Party Potential (11/1), Mick (16/1), Billy The Squid (33/1), Current (66/1), Dorchester Dom (66/1), Dragon Man (150/1)

Verdict

As with all juvenile hurdles at this time of year there isn’t much to go on with only three of these having performed over obstacles. SOLDIER ON PARADE very much sets the standard on his second at Bangor to one who is unbeaten over hurdles (3-3) where he hurdled adequately and that experience will stand him in good stead. Anything that Alan King runs in races like this has to be respected and despite Party Potential being no great shakes on the Flat he wouldn’t be the first of that ilk to improve over hurdles. Prince Percy would be a similar type and Dutch Admiral has to enter the argument having been the best of these on the Flat by some margin.
  1. Soldier On Parade
  2. Dutch Admiral
  3. Party Potential
