Out-and-out front runner on Flat/over hurdles who struggled last season but ran better over C&D last time when tuned up by a Flat run plus a reduced mark. Took his usual keen hold last time, down in grade, dangerous with a soft lead off this mark.
Finally headed in right direction in the spring of 2019 over hurdles winning back-to-back races (one a novice hurdle over C&D). Competitive enough last time (sixth) in a higher grade than usual over C&D (Brandon Castle, fourth), could play a part.
Fit from the Flat, in first-time cheekpieces/tongue-tie when well beaten over C&D last time in a better race than this behind two of today's rivals. Tongue-tie now dispensed with, dropped 2lb, does need to bounce back from last time.
Useful in handicap hurdles in Ireland (won last two starts for Thomas Mullins), yet to really fire for this yard in a low-key start at the end of last year of an elevated mark. Mark/grade easing but break could have refreshed, worth a market check.
Listed hurdle winner, only start in France for David Cottin prior to joining Phillip Hobbs. Ran three times for that yard, struggled to match debut effort even when tried in a handicap when last seen; this yard have a good record rejuvenating horses.
Showed some fair form in bumpers/over hurdles for John Ryan (dual course winner), pulled up when last seen over hurdles. Subsequent AW form below-par (has been fairly useful in that sphere), eased 5lb from last hurdles run making debut for new yard.
Well supported for his chase debut he made an inauspicious start (fell first); quickly back over hurdles where he's a dual novice winner. Handicap form last winter leaves a lot to be desired but does have a reduced mark to work with.
New to this yard having been a fair sort in Ireland (Henry de Bromhead trained) over hurdles/fences. Below form when last seen over fences and yet to win a handicap, yard do well with new recruits, worth a check in the market.
Veteran, best known for his Newton Abbot exploits although not his most recent one where he refused to race there recently. Still capable of winning races as recently as last year, that behaviour was rather out of character, caution advised.
Won for his former yard (Dan Skelton) last summer and generally ran with credit before the change of stable. Profile a little more uneven for this yard (yet to win for them), recent Flat form only modest, would make only minor appeal.
Winless in a quartet of hurdles starts (0-4 in bumpers) but did show some improved form here last time over 2m4f off 1lb lower. Appeared to have some quirks though doing plenty wrong especially at the finish, cheekpieces now on to aid concentration.

Brandon Castle (2/1), Fubar (5/1), Siannes Star (5/1), Ferrobin (5/1), Valentino Dancer (10/1), Lord Roccoco (10/1), Normal Norman (12/1), Illustrissime (14/1), Lucky Icon (25/1), Tamarillo Grove (33/1), Ayr Of Elegance (40/1), Gelboe De Chanay (40/1)
The dynamic front-runner Brandon Castle rather lost his form last winter over hurdles but looked to be on his way back in a Class 2 event here last time finishing fourth and hinting that he may be able to return to winning ways soon. Behind him on that occasion were Siannes Star and VALENTINO DANCER and it’s the latter of that pair who is given a chance to reverse the form with the stable in good form and the better ground likely to suit. Second here last time over a longer trip Fubar isn’t out of this although his finishing effort needs to be more straightforward this time. Lucky Icon eased in the weights should be checked in the market.
- Valentino Dancer
- Brandon Castle
