In terrific form in the latter part of 2019 completing a handicap hurdle four-timer over staying trips. Held his form well in two starts after that finding a sharp 3m at Musselburgh barely enough of a test when last seen, capable off this mark.

Yet to win over hurdles, has run no sort of race in last two starts having reportedly bled when last seen. Best of his hurdles efforts have come around here although they are fairly modest int their value, stays this far but others more persuasive.

Gained a deserved win over hurdles for some consistent efforts when scoring at Market Rasen (2m7f) last August off 3lb lower. Looked rather out of sorts in keeping with the yard in two starts since returning from a long absence, needs to show more.

Only modest over hurdles finishing well held on the majority of starts for this yard the last two over C&D off higher marks last summer. Given a chance by the handicapper now he would need to show some zip to take advantage, usually a front-runner.

14/1
Better known as a fair but rather inconsistent chaser, not seen over hurdles since last November when looking one paced at Kelso (3m2f). Making little impact when last seen out (over fences), usual headgear returns, off a reduced mark.

Invincible Cavep19
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-0| J: Tom Cannon| T: C Gordon| OR:  92
6/1
One-time fairly useful hurdler, appears to have done nothing but regress for this yard despite plummeting in the weights. Fared no better than of late at Newton Abbot last time looking totally disinterested in proceedings, not one to trust.

9/2
Only modest these days, surprisingly never run here before (should be suited by sharp left-handed track), shaping well enough when last seen early in the year but lacking a cutting edge, not one to trust implicitly, nicely weighted (has won fresh).

Age: 9|  Weight: 10-9| J: Lorcan Murtagh(3)| T: F P Murtagh| OR:  87
9/1
Very in-and-out performer (2-24 over hurdles), both wins in this sphere have come left-handed but is 0-4 around here. A repeat of his penultimate run would give him a chance (predictably failed to back that run up when last seen), comes with risks.

Shaiyzar7
Age: 11|  Weight: 10-5| J: Aaron Anderson(7)| T: D Thompson| OR:  83
12/1
Failed to complete in his last four starts, three of them over fences (fell twice around here). Undone by a bad error at Southwell when chasing last time, pulled up at the same venue over hurdles four months earlier, hard to fashion a solid case.

Forecasts

Aptly Put (4/1), Court Baloo (4/1), Top Billing (9/2), Invincible Cave (6/1), Get An Oscar (7/1), Samtu (9/1), Shaiyzar (12/1), Achill Road Boy (14/1), David John (25/1)

Verdict

Most of these come with some sort of dent in their profile and it may well be that COURT BALOO who is bar far the most consistent of them can regain the winning thread despite having a long absence to overcome. He’s proven himself capable off this mark and the trip won’t be any problem. Top Billing isn’t one to be totally trusted but there may be enough twists and turns around this sharp track to keep him interested and he is residing on an attractive mark. Locally-trained Aptly Put has run well enough around here before to be considered while Samtu isn’t out of this if he’s on a going day.
  1. Court Baloo
  2. Top Billing
  3. Aptly Put
