Has proved himself to be a very consistent chaser in most recent outings finally getting his head in front last time at Killarny; has won over hurdles and was placed recently at Tipperary; possibly a bit too high in the weights to get competitive.
Won at the 14th time of asking last time at this track over 2m5f when winning a maiden hurdle in good style; up a massive 12lb for that win but capable of running a big race.
Took advantage of a falling handicap mark to record his first frame finish in his nine-race career on penultimate at Tipperary; won last time out over course and distance but manner of win suggests he may struggle back up the weights.
Off the mark for connections at the seventh time of asking when landing a course and distance maiden in June 2019; raced just once more last season four days later at Wexford; difficult to assess.
Obviously needed his reappearance run at Tipperary in June because he won well last time at Downpatrick and was nicely supported to do so; he has only been raised 5lb for that success and there may be more to come from the gelding.
Won at the seventh attempt for connections when taking a Downpatrick handicap hurdle over 2m5½f in June 2019 off a 12lb lower mark; needs to bounce back from below par run last time at Tipperary and suspicion is the handicapper has his mark for now.
Ran well enough on seasonal reappearance to suggest she is still capable of winning races; still looks on a fair mark but plenty to find with Insane Bolt on that recent run.
Winner on the Flat for trainer Ed Walker; nine-race maiden over hurdles; fair effort when last seen at Tipperary earlier this month; each-way shout in first-time cheekpieces.
Put up a much improved performance to run Elegant Dan over course and distance last week; up in the handicap a few pounds but there may be more to come.
Had been improving for each outing before putting in a below par effort last time at Bellewstown; still open to improvement and has cheekpieces applied for the first time.
Ran some promising races last season notably at Naas and Downpatrick; a little bit inconsistent but looks well handicapped and not without a chance.
Useful 77-rated handicapper on the Flat for trainer Sir Mark Prescott but has found the step into hurdling company a struggle since joining this yard.
Better effort on return when close fourth in Cork bumper (2m3f, yielding; 16-1) but could not build on that on return to hurdles last November at Thurles.

Forecasts
Knock On Steel (7/2), Insane Bolt (4/1), Elegant Dan (11/2), Moll Dote (11/2), Pat Coyne (8/1), Captain Courageous (11/1), Basil's Boy (14/1), Yaiza (18/1), Four Country Roads (20/1), Soloheadbeg (28/1), Pat's Pearl (33/1), Electricitywork (40/1), Trouble And Strife (50/1)
PAT COYNE and Elegant Dan renew rivalry over course and distance and it is the former who could could out as the winner this time with a 4lb pull in the weights. The selection was having his first run since December that day and should be even sharper here. The was plenty to like about the way Moll Dote won a maiden hurdle here last week on the same card. The handicapper has taken no chances with her but she should still be capable of going close. Insane Bolt is another recent winner and the 5lb extra he has to carry may seem a little lenient after the race.
- Pat Coyne
- Insane Bolt
- Moll Dote
