Will have disappointed connections with a number of dismal efforts since returning from two years off in March 2019 including when pulling up on penultimate start in a hurdles race at Thurles and falling on chase debut here last week.

Very consistent winning hurdler; never a factor on chase debut recently at Kilbeggan and while open to plenty of improvement over fences is hard to recommend on the basis of that effort.

Had looked to have turned a corner when putting up two fairly solid performances at Roscommon in June and July; possible excuses last time in maiden hurdle at Ballinrobe; tough ask on chase debut.

Showed a degree of promise on hurdles debut at Tramore in December but failed to build on that on two subsequent runs and disappointed on chase debut at Leopardstown in March.
Beaten last week by an easy winner at this track in a maiden hurdle; had been showing signs of improving and not totally out of it on chase debut.

Has shown little in the way of ability in bumper and hurdle starts to date; hard to fancy on racecourse evidence.
7

Winner of a Kilbeggan maiden hurdle over 2m4f 12 months on good ground; limited progress subsequently; will be fit from recent run in a handicap at Tipperary; steps into the unknown on fences bow.

Daughter of Gold Well was quick off the mark over hurdles when landing a Wexford maiden over 2m 12 months ago. Continued in decent form over timber and reasonable chase debut at Tipperary earlier this month; can improve.

Was a 20-1 winner of a maiden hurdle at Ballinrobe last summer (2m1f, soft) but overall hurdles form was poor; warmed up for this with fair recent run at Killarney; chance on chase debut.

Daughter of Kalanisi, winner of two of her 17 starts over hurdles; struggled on recent chase debut at Kilbeggan; difficult to see her getting competitive on the basis of that evidence but respected from top yard.

Mare with a Ballinrobe maiden hurdle success on her CV from five starts over timber last year; promising chase debut recently at Killarney and would not have to improve too much to play a leading role.

Put some indifferent form behind her to score well in a novice hurdle in March on heavy ground at Clonmel; very interesting contender on chase introduction and it will be interesting to see the level of market support.

Forecasts

Andalusa (15/8), Waitnsee (3/1), Ran Rite (10/3), Boro Tari (15/2), Happy Jacky (14/1), Whenurgoodurgood (18/1), Hardy Man (33/1), Castello Sforza (50/1), Memory Tree (50/1), Holy Motivation (66/1), Stormy Master (80/1), Clear Left (100/1)

Verdict

ANDALUSA showed plenty of promise as a juvenile in France but an injury has meant her progress over hurdles has been stunted. A winner on her latest start in March over hurdles, she should have been well prepared for her chase debut and is given the nod over Waitnsee who should be better for her recent chase debut at Killarney where she finished third of 13. A spot more rain will help her cause. Ran Rite ran well enough in a maiden hurdle at this track last weekend and if translating that form to fences, could go well.
  1. Andalusa
  2. Waitnsee
  3. Ran Rite
