Carries a 7lb penalty courtesy of a much improved effort from debut when taking a 1m Kempton maiden living up to what is quite a smart pedigree. Ought to stay beyond this trip, very much open to further progress, be a useful effort to carry penalty.

Newcomer, one of four of that ilk in the field, fourth foal, closely related to smart winner at up to 7f Dreamfield, half-sister to a couple of decent sorts including Price Eiji. Dam a winner at up 10.5f, from a good family, respected on debut.

Two promising runs either side of a 14-month break belatedly confirming her debut promise over C&D last time when second to debutante Stunning Beauty (in same ownership). Remains with potential, good enough to win a modest novice/maiden.

Steady rather than dynamic progress in three starts pushing an odds-on favourite who has won a good handicap off 87 since close at Bath (1m, firm). May again find one or two too strong, would have a better chance in handicaps.

Seen just the once so far running with some modest promise/hinted at ability when in midfield over 7f on the Rowley Mile last October. Kept on through the closing stages, should have some more to offer, may need this run back from a break.
Second foal, newcomer by Gleneagles, dam winner at up to 1m4f (Ribblesdale/Royal Whip winner), also runner-up in Irish Oaks. Comes up against some decent types in this some with experience, worth monitoring in the market given her pedigree.
There was some promise in her Leopardstown maiden debut effort over 1m prior to running poorly last time at Killarney (11.2f, good/soft) when up in trip. Now makes her stable/GB debut with something to prove.

Newcomer, 3,000gns yearling, fourth foal, half-sister to 1m/9f winner Luna Magic and 1m2f winner Medicean Blue. Dam a winner at up to 2m, hard to see her getting involved given her pedigree and usual modus operandi of yard.
One of two well-bred newcomers from this yard this one costing €500,000 as a yearling. Closely related to smart winner up to 7f Naadirr, half-sister to several winners, dam 1m-1m2f winner who stayed easy 1m4f, in good hands, interesting newcomer.

Forecasts

Declaring Love (8/11), Defence Girl (9/2), Zahratty (7/1), Maurimo (10/1), Bizzi Lizzi (11/1), She Loves A Night (40/1), Miss Mulligan (50/1), Joanie Stubbs (50/1), Windrush Song (125/1)

Verdict

The form standard is set by Defence Girl who was only beaten a neck by a subsequent handicap winner last time at Bath but has had three chances now. Her experience will stand her in good stead here but she has to cope with a couple of John Gosden newcomers who both look as though they could be useful on pedigree with BIZZI LIZZI just given the verdict over her stablemate Zahratty who looks as though she will stay further than this 7f. Penalised Maurimo may just be anchored by her penalty but can’t be ruled out with Declaring Love already second over C&D another who would have to be considered especially from a yard that do well on this course.
  1. Bizzi Lizzi
  2. Declaring Love
  3. Defence Girl
