Very well handicapped on old form but mark has fallen a long way due to some pretty moderate efforts last year. Have to go back to 2017 to find last win, and may want softer ground regardless.

Quivvy Loughp1,t1325
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-6| J: Mr James King(5)| T: O Murphy| OR:  93
18/1
Best effort of last year came in a novice hurdle over C&D, so has that going for her, and this ground probably ideal. Disappointing she couldn't do better on handicap debut (pulled up) but early days, and she now gets some headgear to help.

Age: 5|  Weight: 11-5| J: James Davies| T: Miss J S Davis| OR:  92

Hard to find too many positives from her five starts to date but at least she goes handicapping off a basement mark and now gets some headgear to try and help her go forward. Others still preferred at this stage.

Needs this sort of a trip and good ground, as she showed when scoring off an 11lb lower mark at Taunton last year. May need this run to put her straight as she's not been seen since December though, and others make more appeal.

Perle Roset16
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-3| J: Paul O'Brien(3)| T: B Barr| OR:  90
9/2
Had been regressing until stopping the rot with a better third at Newton Abbot over 22f two weeks ago, looking ready for a crack at this trip. Should be fitter than a few with that under her belt and has each-way chances at worst here.

Age: 5|  Weight: 11-3| J: Aaron Anderson(7)| T: Sean Conway| OR:  90WS

Irish raider, maiden after 13 starts and isn't progressing. Only positives are he comes here after a wind operation and yard have had a winner at the track, so is at least worth a look in the market for support.
7
Horse silk
Petruccit144
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-1| J: Thomas Bellamy| T: D J Jeffreys| OR:  88
10/1
Landed a touch (as this yard can do) at Stratford last August and back on the same mark today, but that was over 19f and this trip something of an unknown. Nevertheless, hard to dismiss, coming from a yard that know the time of day in these events.

Drumreagh134
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-1| J: David Bass| T: K Bailey & M Nicholls| OR:  88
14/1
Some early promise in a point-to-point and bumper, but yet to really translate that over hurdles, and well held in two handicaps. Possible better ground and a step up in trip will both help, and yard going well, so not written off yet.
9
Horse silk
Lamh Ar Lamhh,t254
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-12| J: Tom Buckley(7)| T: N J Hawke| OR:  85
18/1
Capable in these low-grade handicaps, stays very well and loves good ground so has that going for her. On a very fair mark but record fresh is mixed, to say the least. Risky, but she has her chances.

Horse silk
Affaire D'Honneur9
Age: 9|  Weight: 10-9| J: Harry Bannister| T: A W Carroll| OR:  82| D
7/1
Thrown in here on the best of his form (for Kevin Frost) and both trip/ground ideal today. Never in the hunt over fences at Southwell last week but reverts to hurdles here, and is another that needs a market check in a winnable race.
No win in 13 starts but has picked up a bit of place money and isn't without ability. Still yet to totally convince that this is her trip but she'll travel better than a few here and if digging in better at the business end, isn't without hope.

Huccabyp1,t185
Age: 5|  Weight: 10-0| J: Fergus Gillard(7)| T: D Pipe| OR:  69

Lightly raced, stayed on at one pace to finish within hailing distance of the winner at Plumpton on final start of last year (20f) and looks ready for a crack at this trip. Cheekpieces now tried and he's open to plenty of improvement in them.

Forecasts

Jessica Rabbit (5/2), Perle Rose (9/2), Affaire D'Honneur (7/1), Gray Day (8/1), Huccaby (8/1), Petrucci (10/1), Drumreagh (14/1), Viking Ruby (16/1), Quivvy Lough (18/1), Lamh Ar Lamh (18/1), Little Saint (28/1), Into The Mist (100/1)

Verdict

Very few of these have anything even approaching a solid profile, and it looks anyone's race. It's possible we could see better from Drumreagh now going up in trip, and Quivvy Lough could put a disappointing effort last time out behind her, but a chance is taken that a step up in trip (on breeding, should suit) and some headgear will help HUCCABY on his handicap debut today and he's open to a lot of improvement if that's the case. Petrucci could be a threat if he stays and both Perle Rose and Jessica Rabbit hold each-way chances in a wide open race.
  1. Huccaby
  2. Drumreagh
  3. Perle Rose
