Newcomer, third foal, yard 2-33 with 2yo debutants last five years. Dam placed over 5f as a 2yo, closely related to useful 5f-6f winner Eccleston (raced for same owner). Yard have been known to have 2yo winners, worth noting for a market move.
Made an unpromising start to his career at York (5f, good) soon in rear, made little impression, finished well held. Hard to see him making the progress to take a hand in this with the outside draw making life more difficult.
One of two from this yard (not known for their 2yo's, especially on debut); recent £9,000 Breeze-Up purchase (cost more as foal and yearling). Yard 0-24 with 2yo newcomers in the last five years, will do well to get involved.
Newcomer (gelded for debut), £11,000 yearling, half-brother to three winners including 2yo 6f winner Mitchelton, Addicted To Luck (2yo 6f winner) and Firuza. Dam 5f winner (including as a 2yo), yard 2-22 with juvenile newcomers.
€78,000 yearling, sixth foal, half-brother to several winners, including useful 5f-6f winner Farook and 7f winner Noble Star. Dam, 5f 2yo winner, out of 1m Listed winner, interesting newcomer, yard 1-15 with debutants this year, hooded first-time.
Yard doing well with newcomers of late (several decent price winners), 120,000gns yearling, second foal. Dam, useful Italian winner up to 10.5f (2yo 9f winner), half-sister to useful winner up to 11f Folega, looks best of those on debut.
Sixth on debut in a useful York 5f novice rather paying for trying to match strides with the useful/more experienced winner (Muker), offered something to work on. Should know more now, has the look of one who will progress from first to second start.
Sharper on her second run than on debut at Thirsk last time stepping up to 6f she still finished well held at a big price (250-1). May be expected to produce a little more here but will be more at home in nursery company.
Very much like the other filly in the field looks the type to do better in handicaps later on having run with modest promise on both starts over 5f in maidens. Difficult to see her getting involved in this; yard 2-57 with 2yo's last five years.
Forecasts
Zaman Jameel (6/4), Politics (15/8), Regional (10/3), Bescar (16/1), Hoofs Happy Now (25/1), Enderman (28/1), Elzaal (50/1), Upside Down (66/1), Mick's Spirit (80/1)
Not a particularly strong maiden to open the card but one that should give ZAMAN JAMEEL a good opportunity to put the experience he gained at York when trying to go with the useful Muker to good use. Only beaten 5L he shaped as though there was more to come and the Ryan team have been going well of late. Richard Fahey has won this in four of the last seven year including the last two runnings but never with a newcomer but his debutante Regional has to be worth a noting. Politics is another newcomer to be aware of given his €78,000 purchase price, a rare Pontefract 2yo debutante for Andrew Balding. A market move for either Mick’s Spirit or Bescar would be interesting.
