Took advantage of reduced mark to end losing run when regaining the winning thread over C&D one week ago. Back into a class three now but should remain competitive off this mark and apprentice jockey takes off 5lb.
Drop back down to this trip should suit after he was fourth in a slightly higher grade at Haydock (6f; good) recently. Still 7lb above last winning mark but should appreciate the ease in class and can get involved.
This is slightly easier than the competitive contest he was well-beaten in at Epsom (7f; good) on Derby Day. Drops in trip, and penultimate effort when third at Windsor would give him place claims but he isn't certain to reproduce it.
Quiet recent form now means he has fallen 1lb below his last winning mark which came at this track last August. Not disgraced at all when fourth in this grade at Windsor (5f; good to firm) at the start of the month. Place claims if in same form.
3-4 in handicaps and was improving at a rapid rate last season. 7lb higher mark to contend with on seasonal reappearance after win at Newmarket (6f; good) on final start of 2019. Has gone well after a break before. Feared.
Placed on both starts this season, and the form of his third at Wolverhampton (5f; standard) last time has taken a boost with the runner-up going in at Sandown on Thursday. Switches back to turf & has claims on form but yard going through dry patch.
Returned to action in good form on either of his two starts this year, finding just one too good on each occasion. Bumped into a slightly more in-form rival last time. Difficult to see him finishing out of the frame on that evidence.
Three-time C&D winner would need to step up quite considerably on the form he showed when only eighth on his return to action at Newbury (6f; good to soft) recently. Others have far stronger claims.
Forecasts
Motagally (9/4), Amplify (9/2), Chil Chil (11/2), Dream Today (7/1), Wild Edric (8/1), Tin Hat (8/1), Corinthia Knight (10/1), Red Alert (28/1)
A competitive affair on paper with the one who looks open to further progress being CHIL CHIL. The selection went from strength to strength once switched to this sphere. He is still lightly raced and unexposed in handicaps so can kick on from where he left off in 2019. His biggest danger may be Wild Edric who was third in a decent race on the AW last time, and just like Tin Hat, he hasn't finished out of the first three on either of his last two starts. Corinthia Knight is turned out seven days on from bouncing back to form over C&D and still looks well treated off this mark considering he was once rated 109. Motagally is another to consider back at 5f.
- Chil Chil
- Wild Edric
- Corinthia Knight
