11/2
Smart form over hurdles winning first three starts before finding company too hot in 2018 Scottish Champion Hurdle when last seen in this sphere. Didn't quite achieve as much as was hoped on Flat last year, and changed hands for 48,000 gns since.

Completed four-timer last summer with a win here. Front-runner who would have gone close at Bangor last week but for untidy jump at the last and return to the minimum trip here is in his favour.

Didn't take to fences and showed himself to be happier in this discipline when creditable third at Wincanton last autumn though absence since a bit of a concern.

Front-runner who is a smart handicapper at his best and the drying ground here is a big help. Off the track since September though has won after a break in the past.

Has built up a good profile over timber and won with bit to spare over C/D when last seen in September. Drying ground will suit and likely to get the strong pace he needs so very much respected.

Two from four in novice company at the track but was found out when tried in a handicap similar to this. Needs to find more in strong contest for the track.

A win and a second (to Teqany) in two visits here. Will strip fitter for a run on the Flat last month and likely to have been aimed at this so each-way claims in a strong race.

Career best run over hurdles when close second at Southwell recently having not had the clearest of runs in the straight. Should be suited by a strongly run race here and has decent prospects off 3lb higher mark.

Ffos Las winner over a year ago but hasn't really built on that. Stamina stretched over further when last seen but needs to return in top form to take this.

Forecasts

Some Day Soon (6/4), Gunnery (10/3), Teqany (9/2), Beyond The Clouds (11/2), Scorched Earth (13/2), Cubswin (10/1), Innocent Touch (16/1), Beach Break (20/1), Adjutant (22/1), Statuario (33/1)

Verdict

A really strong race for the grade and time of year and in the hope that the break since last run will see him in a better light, the vote goes to GUNNERY who had looked a smart type when winning at Doncaster a week prior to that. Scorched Earth put in an improved effort at Southwell and looks sure to play a part with Teqany another to consider in a fascinating contest.
  1. Gunnery
  2. Scorched Earth
  3. Teqany
