Won a 7½f Ffos Las maiden on good ground last August. Was a bit unlucky not to add a Newmarket handicap (1m1f, heavy) on his final juvenile start. Improving again this season, despite defeats, and looks a big player despite another 3lb rise.
Dual AW winner at around this trip. 10lb higher than the latter success, but has been Listed-placed since. Well held at 50-1 in the King George V Stakes at Royal Ascot last month, but not ruled out if he can put that behind him.
Debut winner at Ascot (7f, good to firm) last September and went close under a penalty at Yarmouth on his reappearance. Matched that when fourth in the Britannia (1m, soft) at Royal Ascot, so needs to step up again from the same mark.
Improving gelding who broke his duck at the third attempt when scoring with a bit in hand on his reappearance at Windsor (1m, good to firm) last month. Could be well treated from this initial mark and the step up in trip looks positive. Contender.
Went close in France on debut last October and produced a similar effort at Wolverhampton next time, which was good enough to see him score (1m1½f, AW). Well held in Newmarket Listed race on his reappearance and this initial mark looks stiff enough.
Won two of his three juvenile starts (both 1m, AW) and has made the frame in two of his three starts this season. Produced a marginal career-best at Leicester (1m2f, good to soft) last time. Up 1lb for that. More needed, but not ruled out.
Went close on his second start and didn't need to be quite as good as that to win a Lingfield maiden (1m, AW) on his reappearance last month. Improved when ½L second on his handicap debut last time at Windsor (1m2f) and considered from 3lb higher.
Improving gelding who came good at Wolverhampton (1m½f, AW) last time, on his handicap debut. Front pair had 2L to spare there, and he shaped as though this step up in trip would be ideal. Looks a big player up 5lb.
Forecasts
Enemy (6/5), Sea Trout Reach (3/1), It's Good To Laugh (13/2), Bronze River (15/2), Amir Kabir (17/2), Orczy (20/1), The First King (50/1), Summeronsevenhills (50/1)
A cracking contest in prospect here, with several improvers in the line-up. Amir Kabir looks to be one of those and there could be more to come from Roger Charlton's gelding now up in trip. Orczy did better last time when tried over this far and is considered, along with It's Good To Laugh and Summeronsevenhills. However, SEA TROUT REACH looks as though he might be a pound or two well in here and is also open to better now upped in trip. He gets the vote.
- Sea Trout Reach
- It's Good To Laugh
- Amir Kabir
