Highly tried in the past and good winner of Aintree handicap chase last May. Only seen three times since but this is an easier task that he's faced previously. On the shortlist.

Seemingly thrives off these small field contests given both wins have come at this level. No show at the Cheltenham Festival on latest start but this looks more like his type of race. Claims.

In good form last year when winning three times. Given stiff ask when seventh in Uttoxeter Listed race (3m2f) on return but should have come on plenty for this. Not without hope.

El Presente141
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-1| J: David Bass| T: K Bailey & M Nicholls| OR:  124WS

Best piece of form came when close fourth in novice chase event at Huntingdon (2m4f) in November but not seen to good effect in two starts since. Questions being asked now at this level.

Vice Et Vertub170

13/2
Last victory came over C&D in June 2019 and has only ran once subsequently when 46L defeat at Musselburgh in February (2m6f). Needs a bounce back but previous form puts him in the mix.

Vendredi Troisp251
Age: 11|  Weight: 10-9| J: Adam Wedge| T: Miss E C Lavelle| OR:  118| D
16/1
Has a promising form book despite his age, landing Kempton handicap chase two starts ago before fourth at Huntingdon (2m7f) in November. Absent since and tends to need return effort.

Forecasts

El Presente (15/8), Coup De Pinceau (2/1), Vice Et Vertu (13/2), Minella Daddy (8/1), Hepijeu (17/2), Vendredi Trois (16/1)

Verdict

All of the field do hold claims in this contest, but preference is for COUP DE PINCEAU to get back to winning ways. He didn't handle the hustle and bustle of the Kim Muir Handicap Chase at the Cheltenham Festival last time and returning to this level means he will be able to control proceedings in this. Minella Daddy is closely matched on that form and was even tried at Grade One level in the past so has some obvious ability, while the likes of Vice Et Vertu and Hepijeu need to bounce back from poor defeats last time but have the capability to do so.
  1. Coup De Pinceau
  2. Hepijeu
  3. Minella Daddy
