Fair maiden with a couple of reasonable recent efforts to her name although she didn't look too convincing under pressure at Hamilton (5f, good/soft) last time. Best form at 5f, now tried in first-time blinkers, beaten off this mark the last twice.
Already has a couple of wins on her CV this year having landed a debut 5f win and the scored in a weak handicap at Yarmouth (5.2f, good/firm, beating two rivals. Below-par last time (poor effort) at Bath (5.1f, good), form overall looks flimsy.
Back-to-back nursery winner over 5f in September last year off lower marks, rather lack lustre efforts this year including last time in first-time cheekpieces. All in all she has been given stiff tasks this year, hopes now pinned on an ease in grade.
Dual 6f AW winner either side of the New Year a first-time visor appearing to provide a catalyst for those wins. May well have needed the run back on turf last time at Ripon (6f, good/firm), ease in grade plus 3lb lower mark give him claims.
Showed some promise/ability on 2yo debut at Hamilton (6f, good/soft) but so far hasn't built on that display over sprint trips including in two handicaps this year. Struggled at Thirsk (6f, good/soft) latest start, raced alone, something to prove.
Off the mark earlier in the year (second career start) on AW at Newcastle (5f, slow) winning a minor event. Shaped well enough last time at Wolverhampton (6.1f, slow), return to 5f looks a negative after that run (often slow starter).
Gradual improver through her 2yo season without winning but showing enough to think she could over sprint trips. Lost all chance at the start last time (Lingfield, 5f), run best ignored, remains open to further progress off a fair mark.
Speedy filly (often runs too free), not won since making a winning start to her career when with Charles Hills (rather in-and-out-profile) for that yard overall. Yet to show her true worth for these connections, chance if ridden more conservatively.
Failed to come on for her recent return over C&D recently being readily left behind from around halfway. Eased in the weights already but needs further help from the handicapper, hard to see her getting involved.
Modest form as a 2yo offering only glimmers of hope on a couple of occasions, generally made little impression over mostly sprint trips. Shown nothing in two handicaps this year the latest over C&D, cheekpieces now on first-time.
Forecasts
Mecca's Hot Steps (3/1), Ice Ice Lady (4/1), Pretty Lady (11/2), Leoch (7/1), Youneverletmedown (15/2), Rebel Redemption (17/2), Silver Start (12/1), Lara Silvia (12/1), Summer Heights (25/1), Beignet (66/1)
A low-key start to the card and only a few hold chances of winning one of them being Mecca’s Hot Steps although she has been rather disappointing so far and now dons the blinkers for the first-time in a bid to sharpen her up. Ice Ice Lady is a similar type but her form looks rather weak and PRETTY LADY is taken to atone for a luckless/abortive effort last time. One of the stable lesser lights she lost her chance at the start last time (stumbled and nearly unseated rider) and is better judged on her 2yo form which stands to scrutiny in this company. Silver Start would be interesting if her obvious speed is used in a more even manner whilst the dropped in grade Lara Silvia can’t be ignored.
- Pretty Lady
- Silver Start
