Impeccable breeding; he's a half-brother to Derby/Arc winner Golden Horn and cost 450,000 gns as a yearling. The colt could do no more than win with a degree of style on debut at Thirsk last month and is a highly noteworthy contender for a top yard.

Off the mark in a maiden at Redcar last September; then ran with credit in a valuable nursery at York before running away with another 2-y-O handicap at Newmarket last October. Held by Subjectivist at Royal Ascot last month; something to find.

Sole victory to date came in a novice stakes at Chelmsford last July; and been highly tried in since. His third place finish in the King George V Stakes at Royal Ascot and subsequent placing over 1m4f at Haydock give him leading claims; a player.

Finished 1½L in front of Subjectivist in the Zetland Stakes (Group 3) at Newmarket last October; form that was matched when he finished second in a valuable handicap at Royal Ascot last month; sets a good standard. Sure to be heavily involved.

Stablemate of Subjectivist and looks a likely candidate to tow them along in the early stages. She's capable in her own right but her limitations were exposed at Sandown last time out. The filly now faces a test back against colts.

Forecasts

Subjectivist (7/4), Tritonic (11/5), Convict (7/2), Tulip Fields (7/1), Arrow Of Gold (16/1)

Verdict

Tritonic sets a good standard to aim at and it will be interesting to see how he fares against old rival Subjectivist over this trip. However, there is unmistakable potential to be unlocked from the pedigree of ARROW OF GOLD and, although lacking in experience, he could be excellent value in being pitched at this level at this stage of his career. The colt, who cost 450,000 gns, is bred to flourish over this sort of trip and, as he captures the imagination for a speculative small stakes punt. Convict and Tulip Fields are respected but have something to find at present.
  1. Arrow Of Gold
  2. Tritonic
  3. Subjectivist
