Early promise last season appeared to have diminished in a couple of dismal efforts at Ballinrobe in June and at Listowel in September. Reluctant to start on penultimate start and should be approached with caution.
Has been very busy over the summer and early autumn since winning a Punchestown handicap over two miles; now back below that mark and while not in the best of form is quietly respected with recent outing under his belt.
Returns to chasing after some abject attempts over hurdles last season; form must be as confusing for the handicapper as it is for the punter; difficult to recommend with confidence but does have some talent.
Has been out of form over hurdles and on the Flat and returns to chasing after a long absence; has only completed two of his four starts so it is difficult to suggest he can win this.
Ran up to her best last time at Kilbeggan to finish 2nd of 12 over 2m4f and was only headed close home; overall profile does not smell of consistency but reasonable chance if reproducing latest effort.
Winner over fences of a Fairyhouse handicap over this trip in October; sent back over hurdles after falling in chase at Thurles later that month; hard to asses on return and possibly unreasonably handicapped to win.
A promising run at Kilbeggan was followed up with a win last time out at Killarney giving the gelding a first win from 23 racecourser appearances; well backed that day, similar support would telegraph stable confidence.
Generally disappointing over hurdles and fences with only one placed effort to his name; runs from out of the handicap.
Last success over fences came over four years ago and it would be no surprise to see him struggle to mount a challenge from so far out of the handicap.
Forecasts
Friary Gold (6/5), Thisonesforollie (11/2), Stamp Your Feet (13/2), Reach Up (8/1), Attalco (11/1), Rocky Court (11/1), Roachdale House (12/1), Captain Cobajay (25/1), Backintheboom (33/1)
No standout selection and a tentative nod is given to FRIARY GOLD who was well backed to gain his first career success last time at Killarney over hurdles. He was probably more value than the winning margin given the way the race panned out. On the downside his overall chase record is very poor and has only completed one of his four starts. Thisonesforollie is not the most consistent but putin one of his better performances in last time at Kilbeggan and should go well if not inconvenienced by this shorter trip. It is hard to know what to expect from Stamp Your Feet. He has talent so watch the market.
- Friary Gold
