Slowly improved in bumpers for two different trainers; pulled up on debut over hurdles last December and well beaten at Kilbeggan late last month in similar contest; unlikely winner.

Gelding by Aizavoski. Well held and no impression on all three racecourse appearances including twice over hurdles; trainer tends to be patient so no surprise if improved effort here.
Cost €80,000 as a three-year-old; will have disappointed connections with a maiden hurdle defeat at Leopardstown over Christmas but much better effort at Naas the following month; fair chance if fit after break.

Solid and consistent in three point-to-point starts without managing to get his head in front in 2018; well held on all four hurdles outings to date including on handicap debut last month at this track.

Improvement needed based on his first three starts over hurdles; best effort last time at Tipperary but still beaten over 20 lengths.

Yet to be placed on ten starts over hurdles and tailed off on most recent racecourse performance on the Flat at Navan; best effort over hurdles did come at the end of June so no forlorn hope.

Not unbacked in a couple of starts in bumpers at Clonmel and Tramore in October last year.; plenty of mistakes on hurdles debut earlier this month at Tipperary; can improve and not without a chance.

2/1
Showed some ability in maiden hurdles last year and put in his best effort on handicap debut last time at Bellewstown; more needed to win this but going in the right direction.

Age: 4|  Weight: 11-8| J: Sean O'Keeffe(2)| T: T G McCourt| OR:  99

Took a while to get the hang of things over hurdles but his last two runs have been full of promise and if continuing on that upward curve has every chance at this level.

Age: 6|  Weight: 11-7| J: Ricky Doyle| T: C O'Dwyer
14/1
Showed enough ability over hurdles on her last two starts in May 2019 to suggest she will be capable of winning races; long absence is a huge concern however.
12
Horse silk
22/1
Well held in a couple of starts over hurdles including a run at Limerick last month. but improved vastly when last seen at Bellewstown earlier this month when finishing 4th of 14; can improve again and probably one for the shortlist in poor contest.

Horse silk
Sea Reef19
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-7| J: T Ryan(2)| T: S Ryan
250/1
Not particularly well bred but is related to some winning hurdlers; beaten 44L over 2m at Thurles on hurdling introduction in November and even further on seasonal reappearance at this track in June.
14
Horse silk
80/1
Failed to show much on the Flat for Sheila Lavery, and has struggled over hurdles for new connections; others preferred.
16
Horse silk
25/1
Reserve 2 Showed a degree of promise on first two bumper starts but regressed on final run of last season; difficult to assess on hurdles debut.

Verdict

A difficult race to pick an obvious winner and a tentative nod goes to HARDY MAN who had some fair point-to-point form earlier in his career and his hurdling has generally been sound. One of his better efforts came last time out when not beaten too far in a handicap at this course. Subset is still looking for his first place finish after 10 starts over hurdles. Hardly inspiring stuff but his best effort did come recently at Kilbeggan when not beaten far in a handicap. Be My Hero is respected given his trainer though his racecourse form is even below what is probably needed to win this.
  1. Hardy Man
  2. Subset
  3. Be My Hero
