By New Approach. Dam also a winner over 1m/1m1f. Closely related to very useful Hong Kong 1m2f Group One winner Designs On Rome and a US 1m1f Grade 2 winner. Makes some appeal on paper so not without a chance.

Charming Thought colt. Sales price fell from 11,000gns as a foal to just 3,000gns as a yearling. Half-brother to 1m4f winner AW winner Mr Marchwood. Should have a future but this is a tough task on debut.

By Galileo. Full brother to 1m4f winner Curly as well as two other winners. Likely to need stepped up in trip in time. Respected for these connections on debut but looks stable second string on paper.

Kingman colt. Dam won over 6f on the AW as a two-year-old. Yard have unleashed a couple of nice two-year-old winners since racing resumed and no surprise to see this colt make his presence felt.

Galileo colt. Closely related to a couple of winners including 5f two-year-old 'Listed' winner Southern Hills. Could play some sort of role on debut for top stable. Betting likely to prove informative with this debutante.
Footstepsinthesand colt. 21,000gns yearling. Half-brother to a trio of winners including two-year-old winner Mutawatheb. Stable have been enjoying terrific time of things since racing resumed. Unlikely winner but a market check is advised.

Looks the pick of the two Ballydoyle runners on paper. By American Pharoah and a half-brother to nine winners including Group One winning two-year-old Horatio Nelson and Group Two winner Viscount Nelson just to name two. Major player.

Mehmas filly. Half-sister to 6f-7f AW winner Speed Merchant. There is also stamina in the pedigree given she is also a half-sister to a 2m hurdle winner. Tough contest to start career off in so watching brief advised.

Lope De Vega filly cost €120,000 as a yearling. Related to some useful sorts on the dams side. Respected for connections, but stable having quiet spell at present, so may be one for further down the line.

Masen (4/5), Van Gogh (4/1), Toshizou (7/1), Liberada (9/1), Exuma (10/1), Blue For You (20/1), True Conviction (25/1), Brehon Star (33/1), Charterhouse (66/1), Amazing Emma (80/1), Moonhall Girl (150/1)

Verdict

This is a wide open looking maiden with no previous form to go on. Blue For You, Liberada and True Conviction all make appeal on paper and should be winning races further down the line. Toshizou is Joseph O'Briens sole runner in the line-up and is respected with the yard operating at a 20% strike rate in the last 14 days. Meanwhile, the Juddmonte-bred Masen is also fancied to go close for Ger Lyons. However, VAN GOGH is fancied to make a winning debut under Wayne Lordan. This extremely well-bred son of American Pharoah is a half-brother to a raft of group winners, most notably the smart Horatio Nelson who was a Group One winning two-year-old.
  1. Van Gogh
  2. Masen
  3. Toshizou
