Winner over hurdles here in February so handles the track, but of more concern is the fact he's had two tries in chases and pulled up both times. Better ground may help but he clearly comes with some risk.
Had six chase starts for the yard and isn't improving, which is unusual for them, but he has some solid enough efforts to his name and has plenty of experience. Trip probably fine but may need more to score.
First start for new yard (formerly with Martin Keighley), useful handicap hurdler and only effort over fences was a solid one, third at Catterick last November. Not seen since but has gone well fresh, trip and ground fine and has chances.
Point-to-point winner back in 2018 but only seen once since then, that when pulling up in a novice chase at Exeter. Will do better but too much on his plate here.
Capable of some very good handicap form over hurdles, fifth in a very competitive Kempton handicap in March, and that not his only good run of last year. Chase debut today but yard slow to get going, and best watched.
Debut today for Nicky Richards, formerly with Dan Skelton, best run for them over hurdles coming at Uttoxeter last September when making all (20f). Chase efforts not so good though, so something to prove here.
Useful handicap hurdler that has the scope for fences, twice a winner at this track in the spring of 2019, so clearly likes the place; yard among the winners and with conditions ideal, looks a big player on chase debut here.
Three times a winner last spring/summer and stays further than this, so a strong-run race would suit, but rather lost her way after that. Could be she's best caught fresh, and her mares allownace brings her into this, so not discounted.
Forecasts
Ballyhome (7/2), Forecast (7/2), The Sweeney (4/1), Envoye Special (9/2), No Hidden Charges (15/2), Henrietta Bell (8/1), Notnow Seamus (18/1), I'm Here (25/1)
A tricky little contest. Good ground is probably essential for a few of these but THE SWEENEY has form with some cut, and has always looked the type to make a chaser. If he can put in a clear round on his chasing debut, he should be thereabouts. Forecast might be rejuvenated by a change of scenery and ran respectably on his only chase start to date, and Ballyhome might do better for not racing in heavy ground, which he had for both of his disappointing chase starts. Envoye Special needs a bit more but that's not impossible.
