Solid if unspectacular form after winning Limerick maiden hurdle (2m, good to yielding) on first start in 2018; desperate effort on jumps debut at Galway in October; hard to recommend but perhaps worth a check in the market.
Chase debut was full of promise when finishing 2nd of 11 at Cork in October but has failed to finish in three races since; perhaps a recent break will have done him some good and bounce back possible.

Very consistent winning hurdler; if able to translate that form to the larger obstacles then he should have every chance.

Maiden hurdle winner early last season and comes here fighting fit from some good efforts on the Flat; likely sort going chasing for Noel Meade and one to keep a close eye on.
Rattled off a four-timer on the Flat last summer; fair handicap hurdler; put in two useful chase performances last September and if continues that progress, holds every chance.

Had a purple patch back in 2018 but has struggled since, hardly managing to finish a race including on only chase appearance in November at Cork; others preferred.

Did win a handicap hurdle at Sligo last year but it was pretty much downhill after that and this looks tough on his chase debut.

Winner on the Flat and hurdles. Plenty of ability when in the frame in two chases at Naas but needs to bounce back from poor run last time out at Thurles.

Dismal form of later in the season continued on return to action in a Leopardstown 1m4f handicap on the Flat last month. Solid 125-rated handicap hurdler but too many mistakes on recent chase debut.

Was in useful form in last summer winning twice at Tramore and here before the handicapper caught up with her; promising chase debut at Tramore in October but disappointing next time at Wexford.

Verdict

STAR MAX is given another chase on the basis of some solid form in a couple of chases earlier this year before having a torrid time last time out at Thurles in a Grade 3 contest when taking a heavy fall at the last. If none the worse for that experience then he should be capable of winning a race of this class. Demain Des L'Aube is another who has shown fair form over fences and regarded highly enough to run in a Grade 1 contest last time out. On the downside, his completion rate is poor. Happy Jacky is a consistent hurdler and if he finds fences to his liking then he could go well.

  3. Demain Des L'Aube
