Just 1lb above his last winning mark and starting to look like 1m is a good trip for him. Does need to continue to flourish over the trip and carrying top weight might be a stiff ask in this company just now.
Won over C&D from just a 1lb higher mark last May but found life a lot tougher after reassessment. He's edged back down the weights and his latest start was an indication that he could get competitive again; won't mind a bit of rain.
Off the mark for his new yard at the first time of asking when he breezed through to grab a 1m AW handicap at Lingfield 13 days ago. He's been put up 5lb for that win but still remains on a handy mark in comparison to past form; a player again.
C&D winner last August but rarely looked like adding to her tally since; the handicapper has been slow to react and it would be difficult to suggest she's capable of bouncing back after a poor run at Kempton last week.
Won twice in late summer last year (back on the same mark as for the second of those successes). Posted a reasonable effort on Polytrack last month and will be sharper for the run; dangerous to leave him out of the equation.
Won twice for Andrew Balding earlier in his career but form for his current yard has been low-key at best. The gelding is attractively weighted as a result but showed very little on his seasonal bow at Kempton last month; hard to recommend.
C&D winner last June and must be respected from just a 1lb higher mark; latest start was an encouraging return to action and, with an in-form jockey in the plate for this switch back to turf, the gelding has to merit a betting check at least.
C&D winner last August (wore blinkers for the first time that day) and has shown promise of more to come in his starts since. The drop back to this trip could be significant and he'll be thereabouts if the switch to a visor has the desired effect.
C&D winner a couple of years ago but his turf form has been modest since. He did win on Tapeta (over 1m) in January but he was well held on his first outing of the new campaign last month. Something to prove now back on turf.
Forecasts
Apex King (7/2), Tell William (4/1), Kingston Kurrajong (9/2), Poetic Force (13/2), Buckingham (8/1), Rock Icon (9/1), Mr Tyrrell (10/1), Secret Return (12/1), Rectory Road (33/1)
TELL WILLIAM can be fancied to relish the drop back in trip and, as he won over C&D when wearing blinkers last season, the experiment with the fitting of a visor looks well worth a shot. Kingston Kurrajong is back on a winning mark and can this tough for the selection, while Apex King won well on his debut for his new yard and has to be respected despite a 5lb higher mark. He and Mr Tyrrell are both on reasonably competitive marks just now and also appeal as serious competitors at the level. Poetic Force is also capable of getting involved and also appeals as shortlist material.
- Tell William
- Kingston Kurrajong
- Apex King
