Handicap newcomer (only had three starts), winner on 2yo debut (6f) before an excellent fourth in the Group 2 Richmond Stakes (6f). Didn't need to improve when odds-on for return at Ayr (6f, good/firm), stiff enough mark, open to progress.

Won half of his 2yo starts (4-8) progressing well through the year ending with a fine second in Listed company at Redcar (6f, soft). Showed himself capable off this mark at Pontefract (6f, good) last time, good/solid likeable type, to be respected.

Not seen as 2yo, rapidly developed into a smart 3yo, won a 6f Kempton maiden impressively (second start), then dismissed Troubadour with ease at Pontefract (6f, good), handicap debut. Up 6lb, looks to have further progress, one of the leading lights.

2yo winner who returned after a break to reel off an AW 6f hat-trick earlier this year. Found a drop back to 5f/return to turf too much to handle last time at Windsor, questionable how much improvement left though, mark looks a stiff one now.

Dual Windsor winner (5.1f/6.1f) on quick ground prior to an excellent fifth in the Group 3 Cornwallis Stakes (Newmarket Rowley, 5f, good/soft). Well held on return in competitive handicap at Ascot (5f, good/soft), limited appeal, yard rather quiet.

Winner on 2yo debut (5f, soft) at Carlisle, not disgraced in a brace of Group 2 juvenile events after that at up to 6f. Gelded for return to action after 11-months off, well held in competitive 3yo 5f Royal Ascot handicap, plenty to prove now.

Form has really taken off after a wind op winning two 6f contests (one his handicap debut) on the other Newmarket course (looks a totally different proposition). Stormed home last time, 6lb penalty (still 2lb well-in), must enter calculations.

One of the more experienced types in the field the handicapper may have this dual 2yo 6f novice scorer in his grasp now. Shaped as if better for the run last time (took strong hold), finished last of six, steps back to 6f here, something to find.

With 11 runs to her name the most experienced in this field, landed an AW (Fibresand/Tapeta) hat-trick as a 2yo. Resumed her progress/winning ways when taking a 6f Rowley Mile handicap (off 6lb lower), poor last time (unsuited by conditions).

One of three from this yard, 1-4 as a 2yo the win coming at Hamilton (6f, soft) in maiden company (disappointed after). Gelded for return, back on track with a career-best after nine months off, taking third behind Brad The Brief at Haydock (6f).

Finished of 2019 with back-to-back AW victories over 6f at Kempton and Wolverhampton; not highly tried to win either contest. Returns from a fair absence to make his handicap debut in what looks to be a far tougher test than he's been used to.

From a very good sprinting family, winner on debut who then failed to fire in the Albany Stakes (only other 2yo start). Scored facile win on handicap debut at Pontefract (6f, good) on return, failed to handle track here (Rowley) last time, up 7lb.

Returned a much improved sort landing a 6f hat-trick on turf/AW each rise in the weights not enough to stop him. Tough individual (finds plenty for pressure), not won any of his starts by much (life hard for handicapper), player under 6lb penalty.

Handicapped on just two 2yo starts when winning on return at Newcastle (gelded/wind op) over 6f. Looked unexposed even after that win but the quick reaction (up 11lb) of the handicapper appears to have anchored him at Ayr (7.2f) last time.

One of a trio for this yard, struggled after taking a Haydock 6f novice as a 2yo in a couple of Listed York 6f contests on differing ground. Got back on the up on 3yo return/handicap debut, that form falls short of what is required to win this.

6f AW 2yo winner, hasn't had the rub of the green in either handicap she's contested this year particularly at Royal Ascot last time in 3yo 5f handicap won by a subsequent Group 3 winner. Clearly well handicapped, major chance for compensation.

Only needed modest improvement from his reappearance Pontefract maiden effort over 6f to score at Musselburgh in a 5f novice. Carries a 6lb penalty for that win on handicap debut, ought to find this to testing on the evidence so far.

Verdict

The most competitive contest on the card with several progressive well-handicapped types in the field. Dancin Inthestreet will be on lots of shortlists after her eye-catching effort behind Art Power at Ascot over 5f when she was trapped behind a wall of horses and denied a run until too late. Lexington Dash is another improver having won twice on the Rowley Mile, he seeks a hat-trick whilst the hard to handicap Sunset Breeze is on a four-timer and looks to still have some progress left. MERAAS looked a potential Listed/Group race performer last time, he’s taken to gain his hat-trick and cope with a 6lb higher mark. Byline, Brad The Brief and Troubadour form a trio worthy of consideration.
