Age: 9|  Weight: 11-10| J: J J Doyle| T: P M J Doyle| OR:  154
7/1
Three-time winner over fences including Grade 3 novice at Naas (2m4f, yielding; 15-8) in March 2019; only one run since when well held in Red Mills Chase at Gowran Park (heavy) in March. This is less taxing on paper.

Peregrine Runb8
Age: 10|  Weight: 11-10| J: K C Sexton| T: Peter Fahey| OR:  158| CD
11/8
9-19 over fences including this race last year and is a three-time course winner; more demanded to secure the prize again but enjoyed a pleasing Flat run at Limerick last week and so boasts fitness advantage. Contender.

Eight wins from only 14 starts over hurdles/fences; likes to get on with things and is a course winner but not always the most fluent of jumpers and that was his undoing at Cheltenham in October when eventually pulled up after series of blunders.

12/1
Produced a better effort at Down Royal (3m2f, heavy; 6-5f) on St Patrick's Day when second to Monbeg Notorious; likely will need a bit more than that to score today however and tends to be seen to best effect with give underfoot.

Paloma Bluet116
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-4| J: Rachael Blackmore| T: H De Bromhead| OR:  150
11/2
Proving hard to win with recently; didn't find as much as looked likely in the Grand Annual at Cheltenham in March (finished 12th) and more demanded; albeit should like the decent ground here.

Horse silk
Robin Des Foret117
Age: 10|  Weight: 11-4| J: Paul Townend| T: W P Mullins| OR:  149| C| D
3/1
Three-time winner over fences in 2018 but nothing since; took in some highly competitive handicaps last season and could find this more to his liking on just second start after a wind operation.

Forecasts

Peregrine Run (11/8), Robin Des Foret (3/1), Paloma Blue (11/2), Kaiser Black (7/1), Dinons (17/2), Jury Duty (12/1)

Verdict

Paloma Blue travelled really well in the Grand Annual at Cheltenham in March but soon weakened when push came to shove. His willingness is a source of concern now; as is the jumping efficiency of likely frontrunner Dinons. Peregrine Run won this 12 months ago and is race-fit after a pleasing Flat run at Limerick but ROBIN DES FORET might well score for the champion trainer/jockey team. He ran a cracker in the Caspian Caviar Gold Cup at Cheltenham in November after a break and held his own in fiercely competitive handicaps around Leopardstown afterwards before failing to land a blow at Cheltenham in the spring. This is a good chance to register a fourth chase success.
  1. Robin Des Foret
  2. Peregrine Run
  3. Paloma Blue
