Recent Polytrack winner but also effective on turf; won over this trip (good to firm) at Newmarket last August but is still 6lb higher up the handicap. Best when able to dominate but an uncontested lead is unlikely; stiff test giving weight away.
Finished just in front of Lordsbridge Boy the last time they met but the rider's 5lb claim gives him a chance of extending the advantage. He's on a handy mark and could have the race run to suit. Dangerous to rule out.
Back to something like her best last time out but still has a little bit to find with Lordsbridge Boy on a literal reading of their encounter at Kempton last October. Does need to better previous C&D form but will be a player if able to do so.
Never in contention on seasonal debut at Bath last week but likely the run will have brought him on; still 6lb above his last winning mark, though. Needs a lot to go his way.
Has tumbled down the weights but is 0-9 on turf and form since his return has been poor this season. Also needs to prove he has the speed for this trip; others much more convincing. (First-time in blinkers.)
Well handicapped on past form but it's almost three years since his last win and last month's display at Chelmsford, when returning from a long break, was inconclusive as to how much ability he retains; headgear now tried but lots to prove.
Showed some promise in three starts for Roger Charlton last year but yet to impress since switching yards; no impression when tried in hood (over 1m) at Kempton last month; he needs to greatly improve now he's down in trip and back on turf.
Made no impact in three novice events last season but is on a workable mark now he steps into a handicap for the first time. Still needs to significantly improve so might be best just watched on this occasion.
Managed one win from nine starts during a busy period between March and June last year but not seen since a moderate effort on the AW brought her 2019 campaign to an end. 0-3 on turf and has a bit to prove on debut for a new stable.
In good heart lately; won at Yarmouth (6f, good to firm) then wasn't beaten far by Ghepardo under a 5lb penalty at Kempton shortly after. Nudged up 1lb after another near miss at Chelmsford last month but still on a competitive mark; a contender.
0-9 from her time in Ireland and may have found the trip too sharp on debut for her new yard when tried over 5f here last month. Now 2lb better off with Ghepardo (who was less than 1L ahead last time), so dangerous to ignore; the betting can guide.
Best efforts have come over this trip but the mare lost her way last season and she still chases an elusive first career success; last month's return at Lingfield didn't really create the impression a change of fortune is imminent; hard to fancy.
Forecasts
Eastern Star (3/1), Who Told Jo Jo (4/1), Ghepardo (5/1), Lordsbridge Boy (17/2), Our Lord (9/1), Good Answer (10/1), Your Choice (10/1), Holdenhurst (12/1), Dor's Diamond (20/1), Imhotep (40/1), Miss Enigma (40/1), Itsakindamagic (40/1)
A tricky handicap where several hold a reasonable chance of success; not least GOOD ANSWER, who still has some scope for improvement and narrowly edges preference ahead of Lordsbridge Boy and Ghepardo; there are also solid grounds for expectation that Tony Carroll can drag improvement from Eastern Star and she too merits scrutiny in the betting (a place in the frame is very feasible). Who Told Jo Jo has a bit to find with Ghepardo but is holding his form well enough to suggest he too is capable playing a strong roll.
- Good Answer
- Lordsbridge Boy
- Ghepardo
